On Monday, 10 December 2018, an event organized by Laboral Kutxa was held at the Basque Culinay Center in Donostia-San Sebastián. The purpose of the event was to remember and spread the actions of the banking entity in 2018 with youth, and therefore dozens of young people gathered at the BCC headquarters located in Miramón.
Laboral Kutxa indicated that the actions described there were not financial actions, but rather those that were financed out of demand for young people, and in response to the "Other Way There is" of the entity, which were implemented in the previous year. Additionally, and given the positive response of the young people, Laboral Kutxa continues to set the bases to be able to move forward in 2019.
As mentioned above, Laboral Kutxa organized this call to disseminate its youth attitude. The entity is committed to education, education, solidarity, entrepreneurship, etc., although sometimes solo activities are related to leisure. The presentation lasted 45 minutes and was followed by a bite with a txalaparta performance.
“Talent & Challenge”
The event was presented by Adela Balderas and Mikel Oñatibia from the BCC staff and there were several young people attending the "Talent & Challenge" program carried out by Laboral Kutxa. Prior to their participation, however, Laboral Kutxa Dorleta Elkorobarrutia and Marija Etxaniz talked about the commitment of the entity to its young people and the same Laboral Kutxa.
For this reason, Marije Etxaniz, from the beginning, explained the values, philosophy and essence of Laboral Kutxa: "Our values are part of the cooperative bank, but our work is to meet the financial needs of families, people and companies around us. We were born 60 years ago, in a special environment, punished in Arrasate, and a co-operative movement was born there to respond to local job needs and we started with two ideas in this scenario: on the one hand, financing and responding to cooperative needs; and on the other, to support business management. We were born like co-operative and associate, equality, etc. Over the past 60 years we have helped our environment, employment, culture, education ... and we're very proud of it. "
"We are very clear about the values of the bulls, but we did not know what youngsters are demanding," said Dorleta Elkorobarrutia. "And to get to know this demand, we began to contact Marije and myself, Marketing, Mondragon University and young people with no university affairs. Our goal was to carry out group dynamics and we worked together for three years. And it is clear to us that young people are looking for employment, education, resume, experience and housing. The housing issue is related to the financial sector, but we have set up some actions to meet everything else. "
More projects
During the ceremony, Enara Ruiz de Eguino also attended. "I'm from Mundukids. Mundukide is a non-governmental organization created around Arrasate Cooperatives, which promotes socioeconomic development projects in southern countries. MunduKid has been backed by Laboral Kutxa since its founding, and has gradually strengthened our cooperation and, in March 2018, we received a call from Laboral Kutxa saying that we were willing to take part in the development projects of their young clients and start up this project. At that time we started a project in Colombia and we started working with an organization called Suyusama. Suyusama was working on a solidarity tourism proposal, and we saw that it was a nice opportunity to start working together with Mundukide, Laboral Kutxa and Suyusama, and the "Solidarity Travel" was the starting point for this project, "said Enara.
