Volkswagen ID.3, a new electric car

Volkswagen ID.3, a replacement for today's e-Golf, will be presented in the autumn and the delivery of its first issues is foreseen for April 2020. However, the company has revealed some of the features of the new model to the press. Moreover, the selected media have managed to drive the vehicle, although it is still very camouflaged.

The first model of the Volkswagen group based on the electric modular platform MEB is ID.3. It will have three battery packs: one that is 45 kWh, which will allow 330 km to reach WLTP autonomy; The other is 58 kWh, which will remain 420 km WLTP; and the third, 77 kWh, which will reach WLTP 550 km. With the former, ID.3 will cost less than 30,000 euros; The second, however, is less than 40,000 euros. The mid-range cars will have a four-wheel drive and the rest of the rear traction. The maximum carrying capacity will be 125 kW in direct current (CCS Combo 2 format).

Very recently, Autocar magazine has been able to drive a new model, for example. It has been defined as the most important vehicle in Volkswagen a year, and it is said that journalists have been surprisingly surprised by its compact size, backward traction, maneuverability, cheerfulness and silence, its unusual aesthetics and cutting-edge instrumentation.

The tested model was about 58 kWh medium, which is the first to reach the market. Apparently, thanks to the location of the pack, the model has a 50/50 weight distribution pattern, although high altitude space is not particularly high. The length of the length of the legs is very large for a size-sized car (less than 4.20 meters), with a long distance between 2.8 meters (13 Zm).

In the opinion of the testers, its good steering position and the size of the steering wheel is good, as the system of augmented reality surprises its avant-garde. With 200 cv power and a reduced radius of rotation, the model moves very well from the city, where it accelerates rapidly and rapidly. Its excellent maneuverability also stands out at the moment of parking, thanks to its rear traction.
The direction is quite light, the chassis connects a good level of comfort with a dynamic behavior, even though the model must have some adjustments before it reaches the production. As far as autonomy is concerned, it is assumed that, depending on real conditions and model type, it will be between 320 km and 400 km. The final result of the test is that, despite the fact that the model is not finished yet, it is really promising and all the proposals can be made into an electric car marketplace.

Not for millions
The German firm Volkswagen has promised that this car will be "for everyone". It wants to democratize electromagnetism, although there were many journeys for its price.
Thus, with the launch of its first 100% electric car, Volkswagen ID.3, the manufacturer has said that it will be "for millions and not for millions of people," but first it will have a limited edition of 40,000 euros.

And why ID.3 name?
It seems that the number gives an answer to the newly started section of the German firm, Beetle and Golf, focusing on electrification.
"The three numbers also indicate the power of expansion in upper and lower segments. We have a lot of paperwork, "said Juergen Stackmann, a leader in volkswagen sales a few months ago.
