Vitoria-Gasteiz will create 710 new jobs

The new plan could create 710 jobs, according to the council, "depending on demand and the nature of the contracts submitted by the companies". To this end, the plan includes two items: one of a general nature, corresponding to the Regional Employment Plan; and the one specifically aimed at young people, corresponding to the Youth Employment Plan.

Regional employment plan

On the one hand, the Regional Employment Plan will have a budget of 4.8 million euros and includes two lines of action: direct recruitment in the municipal area and aid for the hiring of private companies.

Municipal procurement

With regard to municipal procurement, which has already begun in December 2021, the City Council will manage a total of 157 direct jobs in the local area to develop use and public interest activities in municipal areas and entities. There will be six-month contracts, 75% of the working day, for the development of projects in municipal departments and services.

Participants must be unemployed, registered as a job seeker in Lanbiden, and registered in the municipality. They must also belong to one of the following groups: holders or beneficiaries of the guaranteed income (RGI), the long-term unemployed, the under-35s, the over-45s or those at risk of social exclusion.

In addition, Lanbide has set the following conditions: at least 15% of all people hired must be over 55 years of age; At least 30% must be income holders or beneficiaries of the guaranteed income, and at least 40% must be women.

Aid for local businesses

The second line of action is procurement aid for private companies in Vitoria-Gasteiz. A total of 2.97 million euros will be allocated for two purposes: to restore the city's business fabric and to promote employment in private companies. Also, and in order to promote fair access to the labor market, companies that decide to hire women will be able to get 10% more in aid.

In this way, companies or entities in Vitoria-Gasteiz that register the unemployed and hire unemployed people registered in the city will be able to receive grants of between 1,500 and 9,900 euros. Therefore, the final number of jobs created by this line of subsidy will depend on the characteristics of the contracts submitted by the companies.
Contracts must be for three months, with a minimum working day of 50%; the maximum eligible period will be six months. The subsidized contract may be temporary or indefinite, but no training or apprenticeship contract will be accepted.

The grants will be retroactive, as contracts awarded between 1 July 2021 and 1 March 2022 will be accepted. In addition, there is no limit to the number of contracts that can be funded per company.

Applications can be submitted at the social housing, municipal offices of San Martin and through the electronic office of the municipality. There are three deadlines for companies to submit applications: 15 February 2022, 15 April 2022 and 10 June 2022; the application must be accompanied by a justification for the eligible period.
In determining the amount of the subsidy, special consideration will be given to the full-time employment of the long-term unemployed, those over 55, those under 35 and those receiving DSBE. In addition, all amounts will be increased by 10% if women are hired.
