Many of the materials that are part of our daily lives take hundreds of years to decompose, which is why there are companies that are committed to giving them a second life. With the aim of using the rubber from out-of-use tires (NFU) – which takes up to 1,000 years to be recycled naturally – and implementing it in a circular economy plan, the Tiresoul brand was born, which introduces this waste into the tire industry. fashion by making shoe soles.
From the beginning, it collaborated with the Leonese recycling company RMD (Various Materials Recovery), one of the main managers and reusers of this waste. After maintaining a close business relationship for years, RMD has purchased Tiresoul in 2023. The two companies seek the same thing: to give a second life to recycled rubber through avant-garde design. RMD had already done this previously through its social arm Neusus Urban, focused on the area of architectural design, with the development of sustainable urban furniture.
Tire rubber was used for years as a manufacturing component for shoe soles, but was left aside. Tiresoul reintroduces this material to the market with new designs and variations in tread patterns to make the most of its material value. Rubber offers remarkable resistance to adverse weather conditions and wear and, when reused, has a sustainable contribution.
Once it has established itself in the national market, Tiresoul now has its sights abroad, since “the fact of being the only global manufacturer of this product places us in a privileged position for export,” says the director of Tiresoul. One of the markets where it has acquired a presence has been the United States. There it has recently established commercial links with new clients, since this is a “market with a lot of potential for this type of products.”
Now, Tiresoul intends to participate in the Footwear Fair in Milan. Its intention is to consolidate a significant presence in the international market.
