The robots of the future will have human hands

32 years ago in London, a group of young people were working on a robot that could ride. But after several years of work, Honda presented the robot to Asimo and all their work went bankrupt. Following their dreams they focused on another part of the body and worked on it so far: imitating human hands by making hands for robots. Hands are very complex and difficult to create.

In doing so, The Shadow Robot was founded with a handful of award winning hands. This company has worked with several major entities and is also working on one of Europe's most important projects: Human Brain Project (BPH). This project is the most important project focused on the human brain in Europe.

Radhika Gudipati, a member of the company, says that for them, neuroscience is something new, but they believe that their model can add benefits to the HBP platform.
“Through this platform, virtual brain models are connected to robotic devices, such as hands. Therefore, researchers can study how these devices control movement, react to stimuli, or learn in a virtual environment. ”

The hand produced has 129 sensors and 24 joints, which are very similar to human hands.

Neurorobotics is a public platform, accessible via the Internet, and is available to all scientists who want to test their brain prototypes. The goal is to make simulations completely different from what the new android has done so far.
