"The cooperatives are not so rigid and that allows us to start faster"

The company is headquartered in Orkoiena, Navarra, and has been working in the automotive industry since 1957, having created its first aluminum hub in 1977. He has been a member of the Mondragon Corporation since the 1990s, and because of its identity and work and innovation, it is now at the forefront of the manufacture and design of rims and the leading car manufacturers have complete confidence in their products. We spoke with the president of Maps, Juantxo Martínez-Garciariáin.
You have been awarded the Talent Award at the last edition of the European Student and Employment Hall of Pamplona. How did you receive the prize? Why do you think they gave it to you?
It has really been an honor to receive such an award and it has reaffirmed our vision for our business, in particular for society and for the education society in particular. We believe that, in a way, it encompasses our responsibility for the education of the next generation through the program of incorporating young professionals we develop into our cooperative, and of course recognizes our persistent efforts to participate in different university job fairs.
What has been the development of Maps? What have been his key moments in his history?
The development of Maps has been very positive in recent years, although logically, it has not been free from difficult times. There have been difficult times where our partners have had to make real sacrifices, but time has finally given us reason. It all seemed traumatic, he supposed, to serve as a basis for reaching the present moment with a credibility and credibility never known in our organization. I would like to highlight the crisis we experienced during 2007-2011, where our common-sense cooperatives were put to the test.
How have you experienced the economic downturn in the sector where you work for the automotive industry?
It is a very short-term sector, where it dominates today. But we have worked on a very inventive strategy, which is allowing us to put our management value in different areas, as well as internationally.
How does Mapsa stand out compared to other companies in the same sector?
In our opinion, the key to our success lies in the speed and speed of the response we give to ourselves. Time tests our versatility every day and our response is satisfying in a big way.
What are the advantages of cooperativism?
Cooperatives are not so rigid, which allows us to start faster. In a world where stocks are at such a high financial cost, speed is causing our customers to order tomorrow, and the excellence of our response is a guarantee, regardless of what we do.
How do you see the world of business in general and the cooperative in Navarre in particular?
The world of social economy has taken a special toll on our Community. It has shown special resistance against job cuts in the recent crisis and has been the main driver and driver of quality job creation since the economic boom of recent years.
What qualities do you value in your candidates on Maps?
We believe that the key factors in recruiting young professionals can be assimilated into any other company: basic knowledge and strong education, scientific knowledge, professional responsibility and a passion for improvement. We could add, in a specific way, aspects related to attitude and philosophy, such as service effort, collaborative spirit, and ability to sacrifice. The supportive spirit, understood as such, is a collective effort and teamwork, which is clearly a plus.
How important is the internationalization of Maps?
Given that almost 90% of our production is exported, either directly or indirectly through our customers - who export our cars mounted on our wheels - internationalization is a key factor as a target market. Today this is the case in much of the industry. However, there are many aspects that are often ignored and the internationalization of them cannot be avoided: much of the technology and equipment used, raw materials, information technology, etc. they come from all over the world. Therefore, if any esteemed professional wishes to continue to do so in the future, it must be clear that access to the world is essential, and the key to this is undoubtedly true knowledge of languages.
How do you see the job market at the moment?
This is a relatively good time for our young professionals and especially for engineers and technicians. There is a very strong demand and therefore not only a good time for their jobs, but also for the university to run a small campaign for these careers. In one sense it may be a little harder than others, but the market knows it is rewarding.
What advice would you give to young people who do not know where to work?
Rather than pointing them out, I would first suggest that they do a thorough self-analysis to find out their skills, abilities, endeavors, and personal goals. A first person needs to know his / her own well and know what he or she is willing to do before deciding where to go. Once this is done, evaluate the different offerings offered by the university and see to what extent some of them match. Finally, seek advice from your friends and acquaintances on this future path that you believe in. Once all this has been verified, make the selection. As it will be based on a better understanding of themselves, as well as on the various choices they can make, they will most likely come together more efficiently and lead to the choice being made available with great success.
