Through this program, nanoGUNE offers a unique opportunity for university students to learn first-hand about the activities of a leading research center.
Under this program, ten students in the 3rd and 4th year of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Engineering will be given the opportunity to do an internship of at least two months. University students will work with nanoGUNE researchers on research projects in the fields of nanoscale optics, nanobioengineering, electronic phenomena, magnetism and nanoscale materials.
Interested parties must apply before February 13 to participate in this program on the nanoGUNE website. Students can find detailed information about this call on the NanoGUNE website (www.nanogune.eu).
The CIC nanoGUNE Nanoscience Cooperative Research Center in Donostia-San Sebastián was set up with the aim of carrying out cutting-edge research in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology, with the aim of increasing the economic development and competitiveness of the Basque Country. NanoGUNE is a member of the Basque Alliance for Research and Technology (BRTA) and is also the María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence, recognized by the Spanish Research Agency.
The research activities carried out by CIC nanoGUNE focus on the following four strategic areas:
The entire NanoGUNE infrastructure was designed to manufacture nanomaterials and characterize their nanoscale properties with high resolution. Thus, the building has cutting-edge architectural and engineering features; it is free from electromagnetic radiation and has a very low vibration level.
The 6,200 m2 building was inaugurated in January 2009. It has 15 ultrasensitive laboratories and a 300 m2 clean room with close monitoring of air purity. Since its inception, this state-of-the-art infrastructure has gradually been completed, with the use of an electron microscopy laboratory, nanooptics laboratories, nanobio infrastructures, and advanced characterization and nanofabrication equipment.
The 300m2 clean room has ISO 5 (Class 100) and ISO 7 (Class 1000) rated areas and is used for nanofabrication and nanocharacterization processes.
Expert-managed instrumentation is used by researchers in a wide range of fields, including electron microscopes, tunneling microscopes, and nanofabrication and characterization tools.
Nanogun combines first-class basic research and applied research with technology transfer activities to work hand-in-hand with companies to deliver integrated innovative solutions.
Various initiatives have been launched to bridge the gap between industry and science by encouraging collaboration with local and foreign companies.
NanoGUNE is constantly looking for new ideas, both new scientific discoveries and nanotechnology-based developments. We encourage researchers to take their ideas and shape them with a market perspective. And entrepreneurs who want to find nanotechnology-based solutions will always have our doors open.
Encourages research work
One of the main commitments of NanoGUNE is to promote higher education. Therefore, a full doctoral program is offered to students who want to start a research career in a field related to nanoscience in a leading international research organization. In addition, internships are offered to college students, as well as undergraduate or master's degree projects in any research group.
