Wage increases in technology

Due to the high demand for technological profiles and the scarcity of such professionals, many national and international companies have started to raise salaries in order to attract talent in the technological field. “Average wages and job security are some of the most compelling reasons to educate some professionals in specialized technological knowledge, such as Big Data or Blockchain,” said IEBS, an online business school specializing in the training of technology professionals.
However, and even though most tech professions are gradually improving their salaries, not everyone is raising them in the same way. Therefore, the IEBS has sought to highlight the five technology professions that will increase their salaries the most by 2020. They will increase their salary by approximately 2.3%.

1. UX Design
Businesses are increasingly in need of providing their customers with a rich user experience of a digital product in a more intuitive and efficient way. Therefore, there is a greater requirement among business staff to be experts in UX Design. Their salaries will rise from the current 36,000 euros (per year) to 45,000 euros in 2020.

2. Growth Hacking
Currently the average salary for this profile is 35,000 euros per year. This professional profile specializes in applying marketing techniques through creative strategies with lower cost and more impact. Businesses are increasingly in need of innovation and new customers; therefore, the salaries of these professional profiles with the ability to design Marketing Data Drives, Growth Techniques and Conversion-Funnel strategies will increase to € 50,000 per year, according to the IEBS.

3. Project Management
Business promoters who are able to improve the productivity and competitiveness of a company have become key experts in the field of organization and management of any business. Through the application of lightweight methodologies and efficient work environments, the creation of a positive growth is achieved, which encourages the integration of work teams. Managers and senior executives in the business sector estimate that the average salary of these professionals will be around 45,000 euros, which is currently around 36,000 euros.

4. Blockchain
This technology could be defined as a trend that will mark the digital transformation of new business models. In this sense, companies need these technological advisors, with an economic-financial profile, to face the new challenges that will affect companies in digital environments. The Fintech industry, the operation of the blockchain or the use of cryptocurrencies will be some of the functions that these experts will perform and their salaries will rise to 90,000 euros per year by 2020.

5. Big Data
In recent years, the average salary of an employee specializing in data analysis and Big Data has been around 55,000 euros. This figure will continue to rise as companies increasingly need these types of professionals, given the shortage of these experts in the labor market. Strategic planning and management and data analytics marketing campaigns are some of these capabilities and as a result, they achieve high returns for companies such as customer loyalty and adoption, predictive algorithms to solve problems and ultimately increase sales. The business school estimates that the average salary for these professionals will be € 70,000 a year.

Presence of women
On the other hand, women are in the minority in medium and high-tech jobs, accounting for 26% of the total. There are just over a quarter of these jobs for women, according to the ‘Women and Innovation’ report.
However, in Spain, a woman appears as the first creator in 16.7% of patents. This figure is far from 9.1% of women in EU-28 countries.
