Thus, TCL has taken advantage of the 2021 MWC conference to announce the arrival of some new glasses that are compatible with the mobile phone. The glasses are also compatible with laptops and tablets. We are talking about the new TCL NxtWear G.
With NxtWear G we’re not talking about a wireless device; so there are no requirements like Bluetooth or WiFi for specific generations. These are USB-type glasses that allow you to convert your mobile phone into a 140-inch screen. The glasses are already on sale in the market, since July of this year, and will be priced at around 570 euros.
Since we are in front of glasses we can’t talk about a single screen, but rather two. TCL has mounted two Micro OLED panels with FullHD (1080p) resolution on the new NxtWear G, which are so close to the eyes that they simulate the effect of sitting in front of a single large diagonal screen. In fact, TCL confirms that we will have a large 140-inch screen in front of our eyes to enjoy all kinds of content.
The screen format in front of us is 16: 9 and we need to connect our mobile phone, tablet or computer (it is compatible with DisplayPort) via a type C USB port. Thus, the mobile will use glasses to project everything we want as an external screen, although of course it will be necessary for the mobile to be compatible with these types of external screens.
TCL’s new NxtWear G weighs 130 grams (cable included); so we can’t say it’s a very lightweight accessory, but we will have some advantages, such as having stereo speakers integrated into the glass frames. However, it is recommended that you use wireless headphones or headphones directly from TCL. The problem in the latter case is that the glasses do not have a headphone output, so our phone will need to have a 3.5mm connector in addition to the USB type, or we will need a splitter that separates the two ports.
The features of these new TCL NxtWear G don’t stop there, as they are capable of projecting two-dimensional and three-dimensional content. So we can use them as if they were 3D glasses. We can also wear corrective lenses in addition to nose supports and goggles if we need to. The glasses offer a viewing angle of 47º, by the way, and a refresh rate of 60Hz.
