The Public Enterprise Corporation of Navarre (CPEN) and the Department of Education of the Government of Navarra signed on August 22nd a cooperation agreement aimed at promoting the training of vocational students in the eighteen public companies that make up the Corporation. Through this, in 2021, a line of collaboration was established with various educational centers in Navarre, and agreements were signed with them to complete the training of their students and improve their employability, taking advantage of the diverse fields of activity that the public business sector of Navarre covers.
The signing took place on August 22 at the Department of Education and was attended by the Minister of Education, Carlos Gimeno; Director General of Vocational Education, Digitalization and Education Services, Luis Calatayud; and the general director of CPEN, Francisco Fernández.
According to the provisions of the agreement, one place will be offered for each 25 professionals of the Corporation for Dual VET students. Thus, 64 young people will be able to combine studies and face-to-face training in different public societies. Until now, they have worked with the Polytechnic centers of Integrated Agroforestry, Mariana Sanz, Donapea and Lizarra, in the specialties of Network Computer Systems Administration, Livestock and Animal Health Support, Administrative Management, Computer Science and Management Support.
LH, the main challenge for Navarre
Francisco Fernández, the general director of CPEN, believes that this training is an opportunity for students who want to complete and strengthen the knowledge they acquire in their centers: "We want to continue to contribute to the development of Dual VET in Navarre, making available to educational centers more than our 1,600 professionals in the sector of activity In the same way, he highlighted the importance of promoting Dual VET: "The promotion of Vocational Education is a decisive challenge for Navarre and public societies, as public institutions, have the duty to be part of it. In the VET ecosystem Only by participating can we enter the circuit of new generations of innovation and the development of professional skills".
In the same way, the Minister of Education, Carlos Gimeno, emphasizes the need for companies to participate in training programs: "Dual VET gives us the opportunity to adapt the students' professional profiles to the specific needs of the company. This reduces the learning curve, facilitates generational change and encourages an orientation towards improving qualifications throughout the company."
For his part, the general manager of VET, Digitalization and Education Services, Luis Calatayud, remembers that VET professionals are "essential" for the operation and correct evolution of the company, adding that a strong vocational training system is compatible with high economic countries, development and social well-being. He also points out that Navarre is the only Spanish region and one of the 16 EU regions where the employability rate of Vocational Education graduates exceeds 94.5%, according to a recent Eurostat study.
Looking to the future, the goal is to continue working to expand the Dual VET modality in public societies. To this end, an analysis is being carried out between the Department of Education and CPEN, to incorporate new professional profiles and, as far as possible, more specialties can benefit from the agreement.
Dual VET, a future bet in Navarre
The Dual VET modality coordinated by CPEN with the support of the General Directorate of Vocational Education of the Department of Education of the Government of Navarre combines teaching and learning processes in public society and in the training center. It is also characterized by the rotation regime that is taught, with a few hours or days of variable duration between the work center and the education center.
The purpose of this modality is for public companies and vocational training centers to strengthen their ties, join forces and promote greater employment of students. To do this, students do at least 660 hours of internships in companies, according to a plan and the monitoring of a mentor in each company.
