Since the health alert was issued in March this year, MondragonLingua has been working to adapt this new situation to the training needs of students. This is evidenced by the fact that once a health alert was declared and more than 8,000 students distributed in companies, educational centers or Mondragon Lingua centers within a week, they were able to continue their training process using different telematic formats from their homes.
This challenging challenge was overcome thanks to the digital strategy that MondragonLingua has already transformed in 2018, which provided its students and customers with a new framework for tools, resources, methodologies and, fundamentally, for their students and clients to work, train and interact with employees.
MondragonLingua 2020-21 has designed and launched an innovative Hybrid Teaching Methodology in this exercise to create new innovations and formulas that will allow students to master and master the language safely.
Starting point
After indicating the alarm status and transferring all students to the teletraining format, the MondragonLingua Pedagogical Innovation Group 2020-2021. began to define and design a methodology for effectively and safely adapting to a variety of scenarios that could be anticipated for the course; provided that the methodology should enable the learning and practice of language based on communication, interrelationship and correction.
After several months of piloting, where in addition to pedagogues, MondragonLingua's development and ICT teams participated intensively, using technology to create a formula that allows them to respond within and at the same time within each group of students, without reducing effectiveness or different sensitivities and preferences.
MondragonLingua Characteristics of the Hybrid Methodology
- Designed for adults, young people and children from 8 years old.
- A portion of the students in each group will attend the classroom. Another part of the students will participate in the video conference format in class through the MondragonLingua Virtual Classroom.
- The teacher will always give classes in the physical classroom.
- Both formats will be taught at the same time at the appropriate time for the group: it will be a regular class, some students will be physically in the classroom and others will be virtually.
Students attending:
- They will never exceed the capacity of each classroom and will maintain the minimum safety interval set by the health authorities.
- The teacher and students will be properly masked at all times.
- Students will sit in the designated spaces.
- They will have teaching materials in physical format.
Students who go to MondragonLinguara through the Virtual Classroom:
- They will enter the class through the LinguaCampus Student Portal without having to download any type of program.
- They will do it individually through their device.
- They will have the same teaching materials, in digital format.
The teacher will teach the class from the virtual classroom and will involve students who are physically in the classroom and those who attend via videoconference. For this he will have:
- A screen in the physical classroom for students who are physically present in the classroom to view students participating in a video conference.
- The digital whiteboard will be used by the teacher at all times so that both types of students can access and view it.
- Teaching materials (textbook, exercises, videos, podcasts) both physical and virtual, which will be the same for both modalities.
- A digital camera that will allow all students attending via videoconference to see and hear everything that happens in the physical classroom.
- Wireless keyboards and mice
The main advantage of the hybrid methodology:
- It responds to the different preferences and sensitivities of people associated with presence or distance.
- It keeps the training process uninterrupted for all students, even if someone has to be temporarily restricted or quarantined.
- Strengthening and maintaining the bond between student and teacher allows students who want to participate in a personal way to take turns.
- It allows training to continue uninterrupted in the event of more global confinement.
- MondragonLingua allows the methodology to be maintained and applied to provide classes.
