The University of the Basque Country / University of the Basque Country (UPV / EHU) and TECNALIA - research and technological development centers - have taken the first step in strategic cooperation with this first Technology Room, which opens on the Gipuzkoa Campus. This agreement for the scientific, technological and academic collaboration developed by the two organizations was signed on the basis of the framework agreement signed by TECNALIA CEO Iñaki San Sebastián and the Vice-Rector of the UPV / EHU Campus of Gipuzkoa, Agustín Erkizia.
This new room will be used to promote the training and research cooperation of advanced concepts and technologies, together with the eleven schools that form the Gipuzkoa Campus, and therefore will be the basis for promoting the training of excellent professionals.
The TECNALIA Technology Room can be attended by all the centers on the Campus of Gipuzkoa. Initially, there will be schools that take priority in classroom activities: Faculty of Computer Science (Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence; Systems Engineering); School of Engineering (Electricity and Electronics; Chemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering); Faculty of Chemistry; Faculty of Economics and Business (there will be room in this faculty).
Collaborative issues and the participating schools will match classroom interests with each other's identified interests, and will focus on the following research priorities: polymer-based materials, cement-based nanomaterials, and eco-cements; advanced robotics and autonomous systems (droids); intelligent systems (artificial intelligence, deep learning and data analytics); control systems (electronics industry); cybersecurity.
Agustín Erkizia, Vice Chancellor of the UPV / EHU's Campus of Gipuzkoa, expressed full belief in the synergy of this action, among other things, because it will help us to detect and preserve our students' abilities, as students will be involved in projects promoted by a leading R & D & I institution, and both because it will not only be a means of development but also a means of development for the whole society.
