Coronavirus has accelerated Barça's digital business

Coronabirus has reduced the income of football teams because they receive less money from marketing and television channels. This has led them to do things in a different way, such as accelerating the digital transformation.

Anyway on FB Barcelona they understood that things had to be done differently two years ago, and that’s why the coronavirus didn’t hurt them much. On the football field, for example, they had a Wi-Fi system installed with 5G technology.

The main elements of the digital transformation plan were: the implementation of telework, the promotion of digital communication with the partner, the technological support for the creation of a smart ticketing advertising system and the digitization of tenders until the award of the contract. All of Barça’s content was also transferred to private and public clouds.

In confinement, the system logged about 400 virtual private network (VPN) connections, 300 video conferences, and about 22,000 messages per day through the Teams app, using approximately one terabyte of data per day.

The organization believes that the implementation of the new homologation and digital signature system and the introduction of cross-cutting tools have “resulted in improved control and transparency of internal processes and improved productivity and efficiency”.
