The aim of the initiative organized by Ausolan and the BCC Culinary Club is for students from the Basque Autonomous Community and Navarre between the ages of 12 and 17 to implement healthy and innovative proposals.
Ausolan, from its Education Project, and the BCC Culinary Club, that is, the Basque Culinary Center's area aimed at food lovers, which encourages and promotes gastronomic culture in society, the VI of the Sukaldea Creator competition. have launched the edition: a gastronomic competition that invites young people to make video recipes based on their traditional home dishes, with the aim of bringing participants closer to local gastronomy and promoting quality family time.
Having seen the success of this initiative within the Ausolan Education Project in the previous edition (200 children participated and made 70 video recipes), this year the school canteen is also intended to be a place of comprehensive education, "remembering the importance of gastronomy in our culture and young people their grandfather -inviting you to make healthy recipes based on grandmothers' classic dishes", said Ausolan.
The Creative in the Kitchen project will take place in the first quarter of the school year, and is aimed at students from 12 to 17 years old in schools in the Basque Autonomous Community and Navarre. The aim of this initiative is to "promote healthy habits and spend more time with our elders, as they are a natural source of knowledge and best practices", says Ausolan's Education Project team in the EAC. The initiative, starting from childhood, teaches the students how important it is to have a healthy lifestyle, it helps to educate them to be affective, respectful and caring people, as well as to respond to social and cultural needs.
As highlighted by the BCC Culinary Club, "The Inventor in the Kitchen project puts the value of passing on the knowledge of the gastronomic habits of grandparents to their grandchildren, and it becomes a challenge for young people who have to apply all their creativity to create an updated gastronomic proposal".
Competition deadlines and selection of finalists
The period for participation in the competition started on October 4th and will be open until November 4th, through the Sukaldea Sortaziero website. "Schools will have the opportunity to create their own groups, and create and rewrite a grandparent's recipe and record a video, explaining the following: the origin of the recipe, why they chose it, what steps they took and what tools they used. Furthermore, they will have to present the dish completely finished", explained Ausolan.
When the registration period ends, the first selection of the videos most "liked" by the public on YouTube will be made.
The second phase will be in the schools, and they will vote for the regional video they liked the most.
