The Global Training scholarships are an initiative of Basque Trade & Investment (Basque International Agency), SPRI-Basque Agency for Business Development and the Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment of the Basque Government. The goal is for Basque youth to acquire skills through practical training in foreign companies and organizations.
Number and duration
- A total of 80 scholarships are offered, with a duration of between 6 and 12 months.
- According to the forecasts, the departure to the recipient countries will take place between October 2022 and January 2023. See the list of scholarships offered.
Scholarship amount
- The amount of the scholarship is 1,530 euros/month.
- With this amount, the grantee will have to pay the travel abroad, maintenance, accommodation, Human Security contribution expenses and PFEZ
- A first payment of 50% will be made to cover the first costs of transport, accommodation and maintenance, 40% in the month when half of the duration of the internship is completed, and the remaining 10% will be paid at the end of the internship.
Travel insurance
- The intern will take out, free of charge (the cost will be borne by AFM and IKASLAN) Civil Liability, Accident and Travel Lifeguard insurance during the entire stay abroad.
- The accident policy covers death, absolute, total and partial permanent disability. Travel lifeguard policies again in case of accident and/or illness of the intern in the country of destination.
Contractual relationship
- Receiving and using the grant does not create a contractual relationship with the state or between the grantee and AFM-IKASLAN, the Basque Government or the company or organization.
Obligations of the Fellow
It will be the duty of the fellow:
- ¡Preparation and submission of follow-up reports specified by AFM-IKASLAN.
- ¡Signing of a collaboration agreement with AFM-IKASLAN.
- ¡Visa procedures (if necessary).
- ¡Participate in scholarship evaluation surveys.
- ¡If the scholarship is waived or released, refund the excess amount that may be received.
- ¡Carry out the work required by the company, as long as it is included in the pre-determined plan.
- Before going to the corresponding country, take a 40-60 hour training course.
- Registration at the consulate or embassy of the relevant country to determine the duration of the scholarship.
- Not to carry out any other paid activities during the duration of the scholarship.
- Travel to countries other than the place of residence must be reported, regardless of the practical or personal reasons for the trip, in order to update the insurance policy and guarantee coverage.
Requirements
- Be under 30 years of age on January 1, 2022.
- Have a Bachelor's Degree, Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, Higher Vocational Training or Higher Education.
- Be registered in the Basque Country at least 12 months before the start of the period or for 10 consecutive years for 5 consecutive years.
- Not to have benefited from another scholarship that has allowed them to stay abroad for more than 6 months.
- Not to have an administrative or criminal sanction that prevents them from receiving public subsidies or aid, or not to be in a situation of legal prohibition that deprives them of the ability to receive said subsidies.
- Have a B1 level of English (those with a Higher Vocational Training) and an advanced level B2 (those with a University Degree). The levels of knowledge of the language of the host country will also be taken into account. The language level can be checked during the selection process, and oral and written tests will be carried out for those who do not have up-to-date certificates attesting to their level.
- Adapt to the profile required in the registered scholarship offer.
Selection process and deadline
- The application period will be open from June 15 to July 18.
- CV examination and assessment of degree, training, experiences and internships.
- English test. Applicants who cannot verify the B1 or B2 level of English will be required to take a test to verify the level of the language in question.
- Personal interview to examine the suitability of the candidate's profile for the requested company and position.
- Fellows will travel to host countries between October 2022 and January 2023.
