Now we need to make sure that things don't get worse, that we can't get into a spiral of irreversible climate change that we can't adapt to. In fact, nothing will happen to the planet because it will last longer than humanity. The problem is that if we do not take measures, our livelihoods will be the ones that will lead to the disappearance of optimal living conditions. If so, we can put our grain of sand in it every day, making decisions that can affect the footprint we leave on the planet. In this case, reduce the footprint as much as possible.
Google Maps has now announced various features to help you easily figure out how to move the least. And thanks to a new opportunity, we will be able to see a new route very soon. When we do it now, we see the different alternatives that the app offers us: the fastest, shortest, toll-free route, the safest, the app offers us. If so, the least polluting route will now be added, an option that will help us a lot to be more sustainable, no doubt.
Basically, when we are planning the route, we will see a new suggestion that will tell us which of these paths is the most energy efficient, and therefore the healthiest on the planet. Basically, the route will be faster, it will give us less time and miles, so we will leave a smaller footprint on the planet. This route will be distinguished by a green leaf icon, which indicates that this route is the most sustainable of all available. So we have another option when choosing a route, and with that confidence, it will be easier to be sustainable with the planet.
Google has also announced a new browser for use on our bike paths. It will basically be a basic browser without having to keep the screen constantly on. In addition, signals will only be provided on the notification bar, with a permanent notification. This prevents us from ignoring the road when we are pedaling. This way, Google Maps will be the default mode that we use when we create a bike route, although we will be able to reverse the changes and reuse the classic browser, with directions to turn around.
The creation of this browser has a reason. Over the past year, the use of maps by Maps has grown by 98% in cities around the world, making it clear that people are choosing two-wheeled transportation. Many cyclists have been told that they do not want to go into navigation while cycling, as the phone is stored for most of the ride. To make cycling easier, Google has introduced a feature called lightweight navigation.
With Lite Navigation, cyclists can quickly see important details about their route without having to turn the screen on or take turns navigating. At a glance, you can track the progress of the trip, see the update in real time and even know the elevation of the route so that it is in the right place, on the road.
The changes will reach the United States first, and Europe in early 2022.
