Basque Institute of Competitiveness
What is the Orchestra? Orkestra-Basque Institute of Competitiveness is an initiative of the University of Deusto that is carried out through the Deusto Foundation to analyze territorial competitiveness and development through different research and objectives:
1. Contribute to the competitiveness of the Basque Autonomous Community
2. Working to increase public welfare
3. Creation of knowledge in the field of regional competitiveness
Created in 2006, Orkestra promotes transformative research. Transformational research constantly focuses on the analysis, reflection, evaluation and action proposal, to provide innovative responses to the challenges presented, and at the same time to obtain research knowledge.
In this sense, Orkestra works with many networks, companies, governments and organizations in its projects and, therefore, is an example of the success of public-private collaboration. In addition to being one of the driving forces behind the competitiveness of the Basque Country, it has also become an international benchmark for analyzing regional competitiveness in the global environment.
Companies and entrepreneurial initiatives are the foundations of territorial competitiveness. Business strategies and behaviors interact with the environment, resulting in the productivity, innovation and employment creation, and ultimately the economic and social contribution to the territory, by condition. In this sense, companies guarantee the welfare of people living in the territory.
The business laboratory analyzes business strategies and behaviors in order to understand and respond to the challenges faced by companies of a wide variety of sizes and competences. It works with companies and other agents of the system to analyze these challenges and improve their responses.
