Gestamp and Tecnalia, awarded for their artificial intelligence

Tecnalia has been awarded the European Center for Research and Technological Development and Gestamp for its intelligent system developed for the purpose of diagnosing energy improvements in industrial production processes in Europe 4.0. The DatSci Awards are sponsored by the Big Data Value Association, which annually awards the best European initiatives in the fields of big data, data processing and artificial intelligence, as well as their use in industry and society.
The best initiatives of the last year have been published this month and the technology of the Basque Country has been awarded in the category "Best use of artificial intelligence 4.0 industry". In this category, Tecnalia and Gestamp, such as Accenture and Telekom Innovation Laboratories, have received prestigious and experienced organizations.
The technology is called NAIA I4.0 (Measurement and Saving in Industry Expertise), and is an intelligent system for diagnosing energy efficiency deficiencies in industrial facilities. Developed by Tecnalia and Gestamp, it was approved in 2018 at Gestamp's facilities. It has been supported by SPRI through Hazit's program. The NAIA I4.0 system promotes the transformation of the manufacturing industry through digitalization, data analysis and automatic learning. It is currently in the product development and industrialization phase.
Applies data analysis techniques to learn the system from a variety of historical data sets: electricity, gas, and compressed air consumption, measured at various levels — factory, process, machine — and causal relationship between energy consumption and factory production. The NAIA I4.0 system helps the factory manager understand process consumption and efficiently manage the factory, saving a lot of money, without damaging production.
This award recognizes Gestamp and Tecnalia's career in the field of digitization. In fact, the European DatSci Awards are the most prestigious awards in this field. The award recognizes the use of R&D in the data science industry, as well as the impact of science and European researchers on business and society.
