Elhuyar has organized a video competition for youth science and technology projects to help spread the word about the projects carried out by young people. The competition is part of the Elhuyar Science Fair initiative. The videos will be rewarded for being attractive to all types of audiences, and the subject of the project is completely free: scientific research and projects, technological projects, experiments, etc. The works will have to explain the project that the young people have done, explaining what they have done and why.
The deadline for submissions is November 13th. Young people aged 12-18 from the Basque Country can take part in the competition. Prize: Trip to the Futuroscope park in France for the whole group.
All videos will be posted on the Elhuyar Science Fair's youtube channel and website, so along with the video, the permissions of the people featured in the video must also be sent.
The jury will award the best video for each age group (Secondary 1/2, Secondary 3-4 and Baccalaureate), and the prize will be a trip to Futuroscope (participant (s) and a teacher / parent). Travel, admission and accommodation will be paid. Each team will decide when to take advantage of the prize but all members must go together.
The award ceremony will take place in November-December 2020, and the winners will be announced in advance. The award ceremony can be in person or online.
The role of the organizing committee is to appoint the members of the jury. The jury will be made up of five people, from science and technology and STEAM from education. The jury may decide not to award the prize (s).
Videos will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
Quality of project content (50%): difficulty of the project, appropriate approach, value of results, rigor in the methodology used, participation of team members (if working in a team) ...
Adequate communication of the project (20%): adjusted to the target audience, the quality of the script, the rigor and richness of the explanations ...
Creativity (20%): the originality of the project itself, the original ways used to present the project, the original formats ...
Technical aspect (10%): quality and adequacy of the technical resources used.

Elhuyar was born in 1972 with the aim of combining science and the Basque language. It took its first steps as a cultural association and became a foundation in 2002, after a 40-year career. Elhuyar is also made up of two other companies: Zubize SL and Eleka Ingeniaritza Linguistikoa SL, which took the step of structuring itself as a group in 2013.
