At the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, the Minister of Education, Cristina Uriarte, has met with Anne Coupez, UNESCO's Head of Education Strategy and Planning.
The aim of this meeting was, in essence, to raise awareness of policies that the Basque Government is developing in the field of education; Actions related to the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations in 2015, in particular for Objective 4: ensuring inclusive, equitable and quality education.
In the field of education, the Basque Government and UNESCO have collaborated, and at noon today the meeting in Paris aims to strengthen the links between the two organizations, in addition to sharing good practices and helping to meet the educational goals set by the UN.
The meeting began with a presentation by UNESCO's team members. In addition to introducing key strategic activities, both the Basque Government's delegation and UNESCO leaders have addressed issues related to research on the future of education, policies and sectoral planning, as well as a follow-up study of world education.
The Minister of Education explained the policies and actions being developed by the Department of Education. The Framework Plan covers several areas of education and has discussed: II for the Basque educational system. Education Plan for Equality and Treatment (2019-2023) ”; Educational Assistance Plan for Highly Intelligent Students 2019-2022; Providing educational care to immigrant students II. Plan (2016-2020); and Schooling of foreign students in the Basque school system - Diagnosis and reporting of new intervention measures.
Following the meeting, both the Basque Government and UNESCO officials made a very positive assessment of the meeting.
