Spain in the Hyperloop race

In recent years, part of the technological efforts being made in the field of transport have been aimed at creating new systems that allow faster movement. And Spain is fully involved in this struggle to develop a Hyperloop. The Valencian company Zeleros, which is only five years old, has unveiled its new creation: it is capable of moving at a speed of between 1,000 and 1,200 kilometers per hour by suspending the capsules.

This six-meter-long model was presented at the Science Museum of Valencia and was attended by community president Ximo Puig, Minister of Science and Innovation Pedro Duque, Minister of Innovation Carolina Pascual and several partners and sponsors of the project. In addition, it has been on display in Dubai from the beginning of October 2020 until the end of April this year, in the facilities of the Spanish pavilion at the Dubai World Expo.

David Pistoni, founder and CEO of Zeleros, described it as "the fifth, zero-emission, and all-electric mode of transportation," noting that the great advances of recent years have "enabled the development of a concept that was talked about 200 years ago. it’s integration and security. ” On the other hand, he highlighted the fact that mobility is more sustainable because, in addition to “scalability”, it includes most of the integrated technologies in the vehicle, not in the infrastructure.

On the road to decarbonization

Until next May 2, the model will be in the Science Museum, accompanied by a 30-meter mural that explains the origins and potential for decarbonizing interurban mobility. “There are certain things that need to change in terms of energy and transportation,” (both in terms of passengers and freight), Piston commented.
The team in charge of development, a member of the Universitat Politècniva de València (UPV), was the winner in a competition organized by Elon Musk. Elon Musk is the founder of SpaceX and Tesla and the “godfather” of the Hyperloop concept.

"A few years later, thanks to science and technology, we realized that all this industrial revolution had a high side cost, emitting huge amounts of greenhouse gases, which right now felt like climate change. It allowed us to transform the world," said Pedro Duque of the railroad. referring to the revolution he brought with him.

Hyperloop

Hyperloop is a mode of transportation for passengers and / or goods proposed by Tesla and SpaceX that is used to describe the design of empty tube trains using an open source format. Starting with Robert Goddard’s vacuum train, the Hyperloop is a closed-tube or closed-tube system through which an object can travel without resistance to air or friction, transporting people or objects at high speeds, greatly reducing travel times over medium distances.

The version of the concept that Elon Musk publicly mentioned in 2012 includes low-pressure hoses that pressurize the capsules to run on air bearings driven by linear induction motors and axial compressors.
The Hyperloop Alpha concept was first published in August 2013, proposing and analyzing a route from the Los Angeles region to San Francisco Bay, roughly following the Interstate 5 freeway. Hyperloop was thought of on page 57. The Hyperloop system would encourage travelers. A 560-kilometer route at a speed of 1,200 km / h, 35 minutes, which is considerably faster than the current train journey or plane.
