The project called 'Sukaldean' proposes the following: to centralize the purchase of products from 0 kilometers, then distribute them (cleaned, peeled, cut and packaged) in the canteens of schools, residences and hotels; in this way, time will be saved and food will not be wasted. The project was awarded the first prize in the Enpresari Contest, that is, the competition that promotes the culture of entrepreneurship in vocational education in Bizkaia.
The project has been designed by four students from Leioa Hospitality School (Galder Novo Azurmendi, Manuel Escudero Noguera, Mitxel de Sousa Alejo and Unai Durán Rico).
The second and third prizes were awarded, respectively, to the 'Koof Kombucha' project (a proposal by the students of CPES Lea Artibai BHIP, to make and market a non-alcoholic drink of that name) and the 'Envolvexa' project (the idea of innovation in the construction and repair of facades, ceramic plates and using the aerial camera system).
The first prize is 1,500 euros, the second is 1,200 euros and the third is 1,000 euros. The rest of the prizes (there were ten prizes in total) were worth 500 euros. An iPad tablet was given to those who presented the best videos.
Business competition
The business competition is part of the program of the same name. It has been promoted by DEMA - the Provincial Agency for Employment and Entrepreneurship (affiliated to the Department of Employment, Social Integration and Equality) and Labor - the Basque Employment Service. In addition to the competition of ideas and projects that have received awards this evening, the Enpresari program also holds business entrepreneurship workshops in many vocational schools in our territory.
The 70 projects chosen in this edition were developed by the students who were the promoters, together with the teachers and with the advice of the DEMA Agency. Through the program, in fact, it is intended to carry out business projects, which can become a reality if the promoters so wish, with the help of the aforementioned agency and the Department of the County. This has been done more than once in the history of this program.
At the awards ceremony, Ana Urrutia was the presenter, and there were the director of the profession, Gloria Múgica, and the regional representative of the Department of Employment, Social Inclusion and Equality, Teresa Laespada.
According to Laespada, the Department wants to support initiatives similar to those that participated in the competition. He emphasized: "we cannot leave behind even a viable entrepreneurial initiative".
"We are here to help you, DEMA is here to help you. But these are not just words. For example, last year, although the pandemic and the COVID made the situation difficult and caused fear - they will always be there, somehow - we supported 1,171 new entrepreneurial initiatives and 1,171 new companies.
We provided them with advice, training and funding. More than 1,200 people will be employed through these initiatives. Many young people (24%). Most of them are also women (52%). In different sectors of activity: fashion design, metal carpentry and others".
