Emerid, an advanced identification system

The Emerid identification system has an adhesive device that can collect information that may be important for emergency situations or lost objects. The company has just launched this system, focusing mainly on two areas: sports helmets and travel luggage. The device is powered by NFC technology, so you just have to attach a smartphone to the adhesive to read the contact data gathered there.

"At present, the way we identify luggage has not changed, and in many cases there is a loss of luggage that the airline cannot even find," said co-founder Jon Morentin; “The information collected on our device clearly indicates who owns this luggage, including contact details and route information. Also, when someone reads the adhesive, the luggage owner receives an automatic message with the coordinates of the luggage so they can find it quickly. "

Emerid is also designed for emergency situations, particularly for cycling and motorcycling. “Often, athletes come out onto the roads alone. In the event of an accident, the device can instantly find out who it is, relevant medical information and contact details, speeding up emergency services' work. and to provide partners with sports associations.

NFC (Near Field Communication) short-range communication technology enables data exchange between devices when they are very close. This system is widespread around us; for example, when we pay by ticket or by public transport or at the bracelets of the festival. "It's a very secure technology, because the data transmission has to be done closely, otherwise it doesn't work," said Jon Morentin. It also requires no battery or maintenance, and now almost all smartphones have the ability to read without having to download a special app.

With this new product, the Basque start-up has opened to a new market based on the B2C model, complementary to the products it has sold so far in the field of neoprene and swimwear. In addition, the company has chosen to participate in the SOSA-Bizkaia program, and in February, will hold a week at the international accelerator facility in Tel Aviv. "It's a good opportunity to open up to security and other niches and explore the Israeli market," Morentin said.

Emerid

Emerid was founded in 2017 and has been a partner in the development process through the SPRI Group and the Provincial Council of Biscay through Beaz.
This innovative system developed by five entrepreneurs from Greater Bilbao allows anyone, animals or objects to be identified by integrating the "Emerid" system into several elements.

Through collaborative agreements with well-established companies in the marketplace, they have integrated this solution into various clothing and items to make them smart; thus, users are identified at all times, regardless of any emergency.
