- PhD in Land Economics at the University of Cambridge.
- Adaptation to climate change and urban resilience are the focus of Olazabal's research.
- He has obtained an ERC Starting Grant from the European Research Council.
- The committee highlighted that it has been a pioneer in its field of research, as well as its recent achievements as a young researcher in a very innovative subject; in fact, it has obtained an ERC Starting Grant with the aim of researching how urban areas adapt to climate change.

The initiative is carried out within the framework of Ikerbasque's Strategic Plan, as one of the 12 challenges of that plan is to advance gender equality among researchers who join Ikerbasque's community of researchers.
