EHang, the drone for transporting people
The EHang has fulfilled its desire: at the end of the day, it has finally presented a model that distinguishes between all the drones in the world; namely, a drone flying person. His name is EHang 184.
The presentation of this drone was at the CES 2016 fair in Las Vegas, an event devoted to gadgets. It should also be taken into account that the vehicle can only carry one person and that it will be able to carry it with their luggage.
In this way, the user will indicate his destination by means of a tablet that is located in front of his seat, connects the belt and the Drona will take off while the person enjoys work, sleep or enjoyment.
It has a load capacity of 100 kg and 100 km per hour. It can fly 20-25 minutes, with a range of 38 km. According to the company, it is fully charged in four hours.
EHang says the vehicle is very safe. In fact, if one of its eight propeller motors permits, the drone can be landed as soon as possible in a safe location.
Moreover, they say that each has its encrypted code for the communication between the vehicle and the tablet that controls it, which is a full stop to light the lights or to see the speed.
Short distances
It is a vehicle for short distances in cities. Its creators are thinking of how to use them as an autonomous taxi, as well as an electric substitute for a private vehicle.
EHang 184's idea is very well. In fact, who would not fly quite a bit while making progress or reading news? However, at least 200,000 dollars, although not at all inconvenient, will be a serious obstacle to the EHang 184 regulation.
The governments are speeding up to regulate minor drones for recreation, and it will be difficult to provide a green light in a simple way with a team with these dimensions and implications.
How does it work
The vehicle is powered by electric power and requires four engines for take-off, consisting of eight helmets. The height of the equipment is 1.5 meters and weighs 440 kg.
As it is said, 184 is an autonomous vehicle. The only thing that is needed is to express a destination in a mobile app to get there in the sky.
There is nothing to learn about the flight. Press a button and everything starts with a vertical take-off. They have not given too much detail about their brain and autonomous flight skills.
Supervised flights
184 will have supervised flights through a control center. He has been developing more than 3 years and has done numerous tests in China.
There are security systems on the drone surface that detect any malfunction.
In addition, EHang will have a support and control center in the area where it operates, -24 / 7-, with all movements and personnel supervising air traffic. If the weather is bad, for example, they will not leave 184 takeoffs.
EHang has already given a price range for its new generation: $ 200,000 and $ 300,000. There is also an additional expense for services, bearing in mind that vehicles of this kind can not fly in their own choosing.
