Donostia, for young local talent- I

The City Council of Donostia, through Donostia Promotion, has relaunched the "Residencias EKINN" program. The objective is to offer accommodation to young talent from Donostia, both those who are working on an innovative entrepreneurial project and those who have been hired to develop a project in a local innovative company.

In this way, accommodation will be provided for young Donostians who are developing professionally in our city for a period of between 6 months and 2 years. In total, Donostia Promotion will make 16 apartments available in the EKINN and TALENT HOUSE buildings.

For the Councilor for Economy and Local Employment, Ane Oyarbide, "This is just one of the many programs that the City Council, through Donostia Promotion, is launching in its commitment to attracting and retaining young talent in our city. Indeed, having a strong science and innovation ecosystem is of no use to us if we do not put into operation the resources our young entrepreneurs need to develop their lives and professional projects. It is a great measure to ensure that all their work and knowledge has added value and returns to the city”.

Among the young people who attended the presentation of the program was Ander, a 33-year-old from San Sebastian; he has been living at Talent House for a year, and he says: “Talent House has been a unique opportunity to return to my hometown from abroad and start with full assurance, with a quality of life similar to or even better than what I had in Germany and the United Kingdom. He also highlighted that “it is a privilege to arrive at Talent House and have everything you need to live and work comfortably and easily from day one”.

For Sugoi, who concluded her stay, "The opportunity to live at Talent House was a fundamental boost for my career, as it allowed me to develop my skills in a creative and collaborative environment, in addition to establishing valuable professional connections. This experience opened doors to new opportunities and allowed me to enrich my professional perspective, which has been essential for my growth in the sector."

Those wishing to participate in this program must submit a letter of motivation, be under 35 years old and have a connection to San Sebastian through one of the following options:

  • Be born in San Sebastian.
  • Be registered in the city for the last 15 years.
  • Have an official qualification from one of the faculties and/or university schools in San Sebastian and be registered for the last 10 years.

In addition, they must have participated in one of the innovative entrepreneurship programs launched by Donostia Promotion in the last two years, or be hired through one of the qualified youth recruitment programs that the Municipal Society makes available to companies in San Sebastian.

Thus, young entrepreneurs will be able to rent accommodation for between 1 and 2 years, and those hired by local companies for between 6 months and 2 years. Rental discounts range from 30% to 60%.
