Digital education, policy priority

The Telefónica Foundation presents its report 'Social Digital 2017'. During this event, César Alierta, President of the Foundation, expressed his views on current digital education.
According to Aliert, in order to strengthen this education, "the education offered in this country has changed", it must be done; For, "the teaching continues to be worthless in 1980".
The former president of the Telefónica Foundation assured that 2.5 million young people with digital knowledge are required to meet the needs of public administrations and companies, and that it is a hurry to improve digital education. With all this, Aliert says "digital education should be a priority of politics".
Aliertari, companies must also be confused in this challenge and Telefónica is already doing this. This is an indicator that Telefónica is the second largest company in the world with the most staffed in education, with 600 people in all its divisions.
The Telefónica Foundation report also indicates that only 31% of citizens have advanced digital competences and 23% have basic digital skills.
In this way, almost half of the citizenry has no digital competence necessary to face the digital transformation.
Privacy and security
Aliera also confirmed that privacy and security improvements are another of the two main social challenges. The former president of the Telefónica believes that it would be easy to achieve a significant advance in this area if the European Commission were to convince it to adopt a new regulatory regulation, as it will boost Latin America and the rest of the planet.
Similarly, the Telefónica Foundation report shows that almost half of the youth are almost 'mobile first': 90% and 100% of their time are consumed online over the mobile screen. "It's almost a generation of mobile only," said José María Sanz-Magallón, general manager of Telefónica Foundation.
The research also highlights that there are already more mobile lines in the plan than the inhabitants. This service has reached a 103% stake and there are around 70% of the world regions in recovery.
Basque Country case
With regard to the Basque Country, in 2017, there has been a great advance in all aspects of the use of ICTs by citizens and companies. Likewise, many human and economic resources have been used to improve the services of Public Administrations. It is continuing to work to ensure that these services are used in a much faster way for those targeted by individuals and organizations.

Especially noteworthy is the spread of the new generation bandwidth (Mbp> 100), which achieves a high coverage level in the region. Over the last year, the financing actions that reach the 1,700 dependencies of the Basque Government and the financing actions that allow them to carry a broad and ultra-fast bandwidth to all companies, even closer to the urban areas, implies a qualitative leap in the Digital Society of the Basque Country.
