The Minister of Education, Carlos Gimenoketa, General Director of Vocational Training, Tomás Rodríguez, participated in the Vocational Training trials of Spainskills and Worldskills on September 11. Eleven students, along with their mentors, received recognition at an event held in the Throne Room of the Palace of Navarra.
The Gymnastics Minister congratulated the students for the "excellent results" and emphasized "the importance of the training they have received from their mentors." He also stressed the commitment of the Department of Education to professional training: "It is a guarantee of future education, a good bet for the creation of the technological foundations of the new century that we are today and an essential gateway for our companies and our system of production, "he said.
Skills contests aim to promote professional training and improve relationships between educational agents and companies. In this biennial competition, Vocational Training students show their skills in different modalities. In this year's call, Navarra has participated in the following specialties: carpentry, electronics, evanites, car paint, grinding, human health care, florist, gardening, industrial control and electrical installations.
In his speech, the General Manager of Vocational Training, Tomás Rodríguez, expressed his pride "for the excellent results we have achieved", since he declared: "They are the result of the quality of our teaching in our centers, as well as their participation all the days". He also encouraged the Vocational Training Centers to continue working in this line and also to participate in the next Spainskills, which will be held in 2021.
The event was attended by the senior students of the group, Jesús Zubicoak and Oier Neol.

It is worth remembering that the student who participated in Lhko SpainSkills, led by Jesús Zubicoa Ventura, won three medals in the championship held in Madrid in March: gold for CI Oier Neol of San Juan-Donibane, silver for Andrés Araiz, CIP of Donapea and bronze for David Lopez of CI San Juan-Donibane.

Obtaining the gold medal, Oier Neol participated in the Worldskills World Championship in Kazan (Russia) in August. Education Minister Carlos Gimeno, on behalf of the Government of Navarra, encouraged Oier Noel to participate in the Austrian Europaskills 2020.
Business and education
Spainskills provides an adequate platform to demonstrate the excellence of professional training in a variety of fields, such as cultural, economic, technological and scientific. This platform acts as a showcase and promotes continuous innovation in professional training, which must be developed in parallel with the business network. Therefore, in this way, it is an intersection of government institutions, sponsoring companies and educational institutions.
The competition allows the education of the professionals that companies need, thus creating a mutual and social benefit. In fact, tournaments of this type are aimed at fostering the skills that make up a valuable dissemination tool in professional training, providing a form of growth for students, teachers and companies. They are also a place of exchange and discussion on the development of professional standards, quality and innovation in different producing sectors. All skills competitions are organized by non-profit organizations and their main activity is to organize two-year professional training tournaments, with the challenge of disseminating information and sharing knowledge about the development of professional skills, promoting quality, innovation and the cultural exchange between competitors and experts from all over the world. .
The tournament is held every two years and serves to select the competitors that will represent Spain, who will compete in the European (EuroSkills) and World Championships (WorldSkills), respectively, in the double and odd years.
Navarre presence since 2007
Navarra participates in this tournament since 2007. Then it was in 3 modes and every year more disciplines have been added every year, reaching 10 today. Navarra students have won gold medals in 2011, 2013 and 2017. In fact, Marta Busto Montalvo, a student of CI Agroforestry, won the gold medal in the specialty of Loradenda and was a Spanish representative in that.
