13 students from the LH Quarry School have developed an application to simulate the Bilbao Kobetamendi area, which is held annually by the BBK Live music festival in virtual reality. With the HTC VIVE glasses, you can get a 3D image of the whole environment and add, modify or move components to use during the event, such as stage shows, toilets, food and beverage outlets and tents. In addition, the application allows you to cross the entire environment on a real scale to see what the outcome would be.
“This technology is a digitalization of the pre-production processes of events,” explained Josu Cobelo Echevarría, responsible for the 3D Cycle at the Quarry School; "Compared to what was done with foregrounds or mockups, this app allows you to view and test how the assembly will stop."
In addition, the program can be used in any other music event, including the topography of the place.
The project is in the prototype phase and is the result of three weeks of intensive work done by students, with over 600 hours of development. The initiative was initiated by the Last Tour International company, which organizes the BBK Live festival, in line with the ETHAZI methodology used in the quarry project learning method. "We are working on real challenges in order to train students to enter the labor market," said Josu Cobelo. doing it ”.
The prototype was presented at a professional meeting on the new technologies in the BIME Pro music sector, organized from October 30 to November 1, in Barakaldo BEC. Following this first milestone, a group of students will continue to develop the project until the end of the year. The goal is to add new features; for example, simulation of human movement, congestion, or security issues that can be predicted.
The project was also presented at the International Industry and Cybersecurity Conference 4.0 organized by the Spri Group on November 20 and 21 at the BEC. There, Harrobia Ikastola will present some technological projects developed by Vocational Training students.
