A smart stick for the visually impaired

There is great news for people with visual disabilities. The Turkish company WeWALK has developed the first smart stick with Google Maps and a virtual assistant that can be used by anyone with a visual impairment or as a guide. The device is 298 millimeters long and weighs 280 grams, has a gyroscope inserted, and even has an accelerometer to read the environment around it. This innovative invention has a technology capable of making life easier for people with visual disabilities.

The stick features a 250-centimeter proximity sensor, as well as a vibrating motor, which informs the user of any obstacles or hazards they may encounter in an attempt to protect their physical integrity.

Connection to a smart phone

The stick passed the test phase and is now available in the market. Apart from this, the Turkish company WeWALK also has an option for a smart phone connection, as well as a gyroscope and accelerometer to read and detect everything around the person.

Also, among its features is a small screen, which allows you to view all the notes of the route from Google Maps, with a speakerphone option, where you can get all the audio instructions.
Further, it is announced that the introduction of transport applications will be introduced through the software software updates.

Easy recharging from a USB port

Turkish company WeWALK reported that its charging mode is from a USB port. It powers a 1,000 mAh battery.
Its dimensions are 25 x 289 x 44 mm. All of this, adding up to 280 grams of weight, creates a very lightweight, handy device for the person who owns it.
Its price is approximately $ 500. On the other hand, a smart stick, for anyone who wants it, is available on the following website: https://wewalk.io/.

Key features

  1. Obstacle Distances: Perceived obstacles. WeWALK detects obstacles above the breast level with an ultrasound sensor and vibrates when these objects are near. It warns users if there are hanging trees, traffic signs, poles and other obstacles.
  2. With the phone: When connecting with the WeWALK mobile app via Bluetooth, users can manage integrations with the WeWALK touch panel, without having the phone. For example, the user can get navigation on the WeWALK device.
In addition to this, you can customize your stick with the WeWALK app. For example, the distance, sound level, and account can be perceived by obstacles.
  3.  Evolves with integrations: WeWALK is integrated with Google Maps and Voice Assistant. In the future, WeWALK will be integrated with public transportation, ride sharing applications and smart cities. These new integrations will be installed regularly through software updates.
