UNIDO, the UN's industrial body, has selected Basque Industry 4.0 as a recommended industrial development strategy. Minister Arantxa Tapia expressed interest in a July trip to the UN on industry and business internationalization mechanisms for expanding good business practices.
UNIDO - The United Nations' specialized industry development organization is preparing a study on the Basque Industry 4.0 strategy for inclusion in the bi-annual benchmarking report sent to UN member countries.
A UNIDO delegation traveled to the Basque Country on several occasions to undertake this study and on July 18, the Minister of Economic Development and Infrastructure Arantxa Tapia visited the headquarters in Vienna.
At the meeting, representatives from both organizations discussed the issues of industrial development themselves related to the global context, and the implications for companies of promoting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Basque Industry 4.0, as an example
The UNIDO 2020 report will explore the future of manufacturing production and the impact of new technologies in the industrialization process of the most developed countries. Specifically, 4.0 will focus on industry-related technologies including robotics, artificial intelligence and Big Data.
A chapter of the report will focus on the Basque Country; because it believes it has a strategy of interest to the UN, which could be a model for implementation in other countries. Public-private partnerships, underpinning the specification of BI 4.0, have attracted particular interest among UN researchers.
2030 Agenda Industrial Area GJH
