They have marketed AenaMaps'. It is a Google Maps-style driving platform around airports. Developed by Aena itself and Telefónica, this tool allows passengers to see the entire journey from the airport, including the most important points of hospitality, including shops, toilets or security checks.
Aena, in collaboration with Telefónica, has launched 'AenaMaps', a map guide tool that will accompany passengers "at all stages of the journey" (from planning to flight): paying "special attention" to the usual stay at the airport.
The tool will show you where you are and allow you to search and navigate the map, guide you to a specific point at the airport, and calculate travel time — the distance to the boarding gate, for example. It also shows all the services and points of the facility at all times, such as boarding gates, shops, restaurants or toilets.
This service can be accessed through the Aena application, available for Android and iOS systems, and different maps and routes can also be consulted on the airport manager's corporate website, choosing the airport's origin and destination.
To make it more accessible, 'AenaMaps' will show you the selected routes by voice and voice. In addition, a Telefónica press release says the tool will “evolve” to provide a service to “passengers with reduced mobility” to meet “accessibility needs”.
Later, the platform will provide users with other useful information, such as the time spent in real-time security filters.
According to the document, in the future the application will be integrated with "other tools located outside the airport" to get the full route from any source.
“The service will be available in the first phase at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, to be progressively implemented at other airports in the network,” the telecommunications operator reported.
In the development of the application, Aena points out that, in addition to Telefónica, they have collaborated with CARTO DB, an intelligent localization platform, and Situm Indoor Positioning, which specializes in internal positioning and navigation.
The first took part in “the cartographic richness of the Aena airport map / plans, the development of routes and, in general, the logic and coordination of the whole solution; and the second has provided technological and geographical elements for airports, ”the press release explained.
