Ekin Breakfast: about intrapreneurship
The last Ekin Breakfast of the year was held on December 13, and there was talk about internal entrepreneurship and the opportunities for entrepreneurship that arise within the company and their direction.
David Montero of BIC Álava introduced the term co-entrepreneurship and defined it as follows: Internal entrepreneurship is an approach related to the innovative ideas developed and put into practice by the employees of a company to improve the company itself.
Three professionals were there to deepen the topic, and they enriched the conference by talking about internal entrepreneurship from their own experience.
Manu Muñoz was the first speaker to share his knowledge with us. We have the CEO of the I+Med company, Manu, the director of the company that launched a cosmetic line tested by scientists: Sibari Republic.
Sibari Republic was created as an opportunity to recycle laboratory materials that initially seemed to be disposable. As an anecdote, he told that they started giving samples to people who visited the laboratory, and after trying them, people asked where they could buy these cosmetics. From there, Sibari Republic was officially established, and has now become a high-quality cosmetic line on the market.
The initiative that started marketing through an online store has finally made the jump to offline, and today has its own physical stores.
Koldo Lopez de Robles was the second speaker, and he spoke about his experience in the creation of the Paturpat company, a new company that makes easy-to-prepare processed potatoes within the Udapa potato packaging cooperative.
Koldo is the manager of the Paturpat company, and he explained that internal entrepreneurship within Udapa was created after seeing a change in consumer habits. "It can be seen that the consumption of fresh potatoes is decreasing in favor of modified potatoes".
Seeing this change, they opened another line of business, as the interest generated by already cooked and ready-to-eat potatoes was growing. This market already existed in other countries, but it was not established in the market.
Finally, Iker Pinedo from the company Novargi explained the process of creating the HyVALUE project, based on the use of municipal solid waste, for the production of hydrogen.
Iker spoke about promoting internal entrepreneurship within the Novargi company, always through the diversification of products and technological solutions in various markets, taking as a starting point the knowledge acquired through his industrial career.
