IK4-IKERLAN is taking part in the development of the future Appliance for Industry 4.0. The IK4-Ikerlan technology center is one of the European Virtual Factory Operating System (vf-OS) partners, and its goal is to create a platform for the deployment and download of 4.0 Software Applications for Industry. This platform will work similarly to Android or IOS marketplaces.
In addition to optimizing communication and collaboration between all sectors, it is expected that new business opportunities will appear with the vf-OS as a result of the interaction between the platform's user profiles.
This development will bring a meeting point between companies that develop software applications (vApps) and businesses that develop these applications. The system will give developers an environment to create innovative applications, while businesses can find or acquire existing applications or a place for development of new applications.
vf-OS will be an open operating system, consisting of a core system, an application programming interface and an advanced data communication and storage system. All this will be hosted on a platform, and with this platform companies can install the software to download software applications developed by software developers.
The Vf-OS project is funded by Horizonte 2020, a European Union initiative to promote R & D, and is part of the Factories of the Future project, where high-value-added technologies are being developed for so-called "future workshops" under the guidance of the UK-based ICE (Information Catalyst for Enterprises). IK4-Ikerlan, Mondragon Assembly and the Polytechnic University of Valencia, as well as the MANU-KET members, are participating in the project, as well as 11 organizations from 6 European countries.
This project has been supported by the European Union Research and Innovation Program Horizon 2020, following the agreement signed in number 723710.
