Imagine yourself sleeping peacefully and waking up to the smell of freshly brewed coffee, or ringing alarm clocks and making coffee in a matter of minutes without having to get out of bed. If not only London founder Joshua Renouf has imagined it, he has also designed and produced an alarm clock capable of doing so.
It’s The Barisieur, who is tackling the final stretch of his creation after two years with a Kickstarter campaign. In fact, it looks like a clock with an integrated coffee maker so that the alarms can be synchronized with the preparation of coffee and infusions. And everything is done with a careful and attractive design.
Barisieur is a watch with a plastic finish with an LED display. It has two roulette wheels on the left to set the alarm and tell you how many minutes before or after we want to have coffee or infusion. Next to the LED display is a lever to turn off the alarm and there is also a button to turn on the coffee machine without programming.
On this base is an elegant wooden tray with metallic details. It has a small induction hob for heating water, with a slot for inserting a small bottle and a bottom of the glass. This bottom glass can be removed from the stand to be placed on any table. There is also a small drawer at the base of the alarm clock, with two compartments, to store the coffee, sugar or tea we want to use.
Its creator said the idea to introduce this coffee clock to the Kickstarter campaign was based on the psychology behind sleep and the habits that get better rest at night. Or at least that’s his way of selling it, because if we want to have coffee in the morning we have to leave everything the night before.
This means that at night we have to get in the habit of leaving the water ready in the coffee machine, leaving the coffee in the filter, leaving the bottle full of milk and leaving the time we want to have coffee set. In return, we will save all that work in the morning and wake up to the smell of fresh coffee.
In the video for the crowdfunding campaign, they made it clear that they are not ready to sacrifice product design, which is why they turned to Kickstarter. And of course, so careful design becomes a high price.
