Profiles that will be most needed in the logistic industry in the future

Looking to the future, the most in-demand and hard-to-find professional profiles will be related to new technologies and, as is the case today, tow and truck drivers, according to the study. Thus, the logistics sector will need people with the following profiles:

  • Software developer. A software developer or computer programmer is a professional responsible for designing and coding software for businesses and consumers. They work closely with clients to determine what they need and then create programs using programming languages. They should have indirect skills such as critical thinking and problem solving. The introduction of technology and machine learning in the logistics industry has increased the demand for this profile.
  • IT technician. A professional responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing the hardware and software components of an organization's computers. Computer support service technicians, generally graduates of VET cycles in the Informatics and Communications family, provide technical support to a company's computer systems through remote access or on-site visits, as required by the organization's management teams.
  • E-commerce manager. With the increased use and popularity of the Internet among customers of all segments, most companies are selling their products and services online. This is why e-commerce managers are taking a bigger role in the industry. Its function is to update the supply chain by increasing planning and organization and improving online marketing. To fulfill these functions, it is necessary to have knowledge about e-commerce through related training, for example, a Higher Education Cycle in Marketing and Advertising with a specialty in e-commerce.
  • Robot operator. It is one of the most popular profiles in Barcelona. Its main function is to program the movement of robots to perform specific tasks using certain software. They also do work such as welding, painting and assembly. To fulfill this profession, it is required to have studies related to robotics, such as the Higher Education Cycle in Automation and Industrial Robotics, for example.
