The offer for the UPV / EHU's 2019-2020 academic year consists of 106 university master's degrees and 32 own master's degrees. In this wide and varied proposal, in terms of university masters, the six Erasmus Mundus masters that can be done at the UPV / EHU next year are worth mentioning. Three of them are new: Erasmus Mundus Innovative Microwave Electronics and Optics, Erasmus Mundus Smart Cities and Communities and Erasmus Mundus Energy Storage and Conversion Materials.

The European Union is promoting this prestigious Erasmus Mundus program, which aims to promote the quality of higher education in Europe. One of the main actions of the program is to provide support for joint master's and doctoral programs that are selected for their importance and outstanding academic quality; and some of them also get funding. Only one state university anticipates the UPV / EHU in terms of the number of Erasmus Mundus masters at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

Three new Erasmus Mundus masters that were already offered are added to the Erasmus Mundus Marine Biological Resources, Marine Environment and Resources, and Erasmus Mundus Renewable Energy in the Marine Environment. It is worth noting that these last two masters have earned Good Practices Flag recognition; They passed the European Union assessment with a much higher score (100 out of 75). “This offer reinforces the commitment of the UPV / EHU to internationalization, which is one of our strategic axes. In addition, it will allow students to access European prestigious university programs, which will enable them to share training experiences with students and faculty from various locations; all of this is very important to this global world today, ”said Araceli Garin, Vice Chancellor for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Studies. In addition to the three new Erasmus Mundus masters, Sovereignty in the European Communities will be offered for the first time next year in Basque.

16 university master's degrees

In addition to the six Erasmus Mundus masters, the UPV / EHU has 16 other inter-university master's degrees, which are given in conjunction with other universities - both foreign and national; On the other hand, ten other master's degrees offer the possibility of obtaining an international double degree, that is to say, with some subjects at the associate university, the students obtain two master's degrees: one from the UPV / EHU and the other from the corresponding foreign university. On the other hand, the UPV / EHU offers six master's degrees from other Latin American universities through the Latin American Graduate Network: 16 universities from 12 countries make up the largest academic community.

Finally, three master's degrees will be given in the next academic year: the Master's Degree in Multimedia Journalism, the Master's Degree in Embedded Systems Engineering and the Master's Degree in Digital Manufacturing. “Our goal as a university is to ensure that our students have successful career opportunities. And these dual-level master's degrees will help in this purpose, as the training program is designed and implemented in collaboration with companies and organizations, ”says Garin. The UPV / EHU has a wide range of master's degrees in the field of occupational skills: a total of 11, ranging from Masters in Law or Industrial Engineering to Architecture, Nautical and Maritime Transport or Occupational Safety and Health.

With regard to the master's degree programs, the UPV / EHU continues to support the continuous training of specialized courses organized by the University itself; in fact, they are flexible in terms of social demands and decisively help guide and reorient their career. As a result, more master's degrees will be offered next year; A total of 32, of which ten are new master's degrees and are related to new areas of knowledge: Film and Audiovisual Creation, Scientific Culture, Protection of Personal Data, Cybersecurity and ICT Law, or Clinical Neuropsychology in Children and Adults. There will be eleven other masters in modular format - this format debuted this year. These modular formatted masters are divided into shorter duration programs, which can be done separately and combined, with a higher degree.

Master's Day at the Bizkaia Hall

To present this offer in its entirety, the UPV / EHU organized a Master Day for all interested parties. It was held on 4 April at the Bizkaia Room of the UPV / EHU (Abandoibarra 3, Bilbao). During the meeting, the master supervisors presented their programs and answered questions. They also provided information on mobility, scholarships, the enrollment process, etc. To conclude the event, it was a recognition event: the master's students from the UPV / EHU had the best academic record for the 2017-2018 academic year.
