The Department of Education of the Provincial Government of Navarre published on May 10th the call for Extraordinary High School Awards for students who have completed these studies in the 2023-2024 school year at the NAO. Applications must be submitted at the educational center where the second year was held, and the deadline will be May 27, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Applications can also be submitted electronically.

Students who meet these conditions will have the opportunity to receive the following four awards: having taken and passed two courses of any type of high school in Spanish educational centers and having taken them in a Provincial Community center in the 2023-2024 school year; having obtained the degree, having passed all the subjects of the stage in the final normal evaluation, and having obtained a grade or grade of 8.75 points or higher, in general, in both courses.

Next Monday, June 10, the temporary list of those rejected and accepted will be made public, and on Monday, the 17th of the month, the final list as well.

Test development

The tests will be held on June 19 at the BHI Basoko in Pamplona and will have three exercises. In the first, the candidates for the prize will choose between the development of a topic, the answer to questions or the analysis of a text, choosing between Spanish and Literature II (or, if applicable, Basque and Literature II) subjects, and Spanish History.

In the second part, students will have to answer questions of a cultural, literary or grammatical nature about a text written in the first foreign language they learned. Finally, there will be the development of a third exercise theme, answers to questions and practical exercises around two basic subjects, according to the type of Baccalaureate studied.

The students who are awarded a prize will receive a certified diploma, and they will also have the opportunity to receive the National Baccalaureate Award announced by the Ministry of Education. Furthermore, in the first higher level, they will not have to pay a public price for academic services if they are carried out in public centers in Navarre.

In the report presented by the Education Inspection Service, it was indicated that it was advisable to publish the call for Special High School Awards; in fact, according to the provisions of Royal Decree 1070/1990 of August 31 and Order EDU/2058/2010 of July 13 of the Ministry of Education, it was up to the Department of Education to make that call in the Provincial Community of Navarre.
