In this year of cancellations, with no E3 and so many major fairs for the video game industry, the Fun & Serious Game Festival has deemed it “necessary and essential” to maintain regular winter dates, and has confirmed that the tenth edition will take place on December 10th. This time, the festival will be online.
With a decade of life, and an agenda of top speakers, Fun & Serious has established itself as an essential cultural event on the European agenda, and given its current state of health, it has been decided to put it online. The festival will invite some of the most important honorary winners and participants to the festival over the past decade to give talks that will be available directly from anywhere in the world through an online format.
Two names confirmed in this list of industry stars are Marc Merrill, founder and president of Riot Games, developer and publisher of League of Legends (Honorary Award 2020) and Tim Willits (2019 Bizkaia Award), with a prosperous and excellent career in the industry DOOM and Quake with titles like franchises.
Marc Merrill is the founder and co-director of Riot Games, and the founder of League of Legends. Marc co-founded Riot in 2006 with Brandon Beck with a vision and drive to significantly change the way video games are developed, produced and marketed, and the way video game companies interact with their players. Since then, Riot Games has created the most played online title in the League of Legends and the most popular in eSports, with over 100 million active users. Today, nearly 15 years after its inception, Riot adheres to the “Players First” motto, prioritizing gaming experience and its connection to the player community as the foundation on which the company works.
Tim Willits (who last year announced the new position of Creative Director General for developer Saber Interactive) is associated with the Doom and Quake franchise.
The event will appeal to a very large audience, starting with their video game fans, who will learn more about the creation of their favorite titles, professionals and video game design and creation students. Lectures on these key names in the industry will be moments to learn, get to know and deepen the creative process and business leadership of the big titans in the sector. "F&S is celebrating its first 10 years of life in 2020 and it would be difficult to refuse to celebrate - explains festival director Alfonso Gómez - and even more so with this celebration next year, even for video games, the key engine of the Spanish economy, it's not easy be ... We all remember the cancellations, the reformulations of the events, the companies that have gone through difficult times ... That is why we are eager to support this sector, creators and video game broadcasters to support our allies, as an art, economic dynamo and as an indisputable part of the culture of our country. A message of closeness and complicity. "
The GIF, which will also become virtual in this edition, will continue to offer networking to Indian developers and new talent for another year.
