The LALIGA FC Pro Cup was held for the first time in Donostia

For the first time in the competition, the city council of Donostia was responsible for organizing the LALIGA FC Pro Cup competition. The tournament took place in the Kursaal Congress Palace and Auditorium, during 2 days, specifically April 6 and 7, as part of a great event that dressed the northern city in the colors of the competition.

The LALIGA FC Pro Cup will come to Donostia in the next two years, thanks to the agreement reached with the Promotion of the capital of Gipuzkoa. This organization is committed to attracting large events of this type to the city, promoting the use of technology and taking into account that young people will be the main protagonists.

This event, which offers the opportunity to bring the city closer to the world of esport, came to Donostia thanks to the work and shared commitment of Sustapenak with LALIGA, the Royal Society and the Kursaal Palace. In this way, the three heads of Gipuzkoa organized an event with great influence in society and the media.

Economy and Local Employment councilor Ane Oyarbide presented the event; The managing director of Donostia Promotion, Iñigo Olaizola; and LALIGA's Digital Strategy Director, Alfredo Bermejo.

The councilor for Economy and Local Employment, Ane Oyarbid, highlighted the importance of Donostia organizing an event of the importance of the LALIGA FC Pro Cup, which would make the city the capital of electronic sports, an activity that has more and more followers. and moves an important industry around it. Esports, and especially football, are experiencing a great growth, attracting a young audience with increasingly professional competitions, in which women also have a significant presence, being 36% of the audience in the State. He also highlighted the important economic and labor dimension of the video game industry and its sports competitions. A very dynamic economic sector and in line with Donostia's positioning as a city of innovation and technology, which is creating a large volume of employment around it, with 9,000 jobs in the State, and is a promising industry. Oyarbid encouraged all gamer fans to go to the Kursaal on April 6th and 7th, to enjoy and cheer on the Real that was going to participate in the tournament.

The LALIGA FC Pro Cup was held over two days, April 6th and 7th, combining competitive matches and different activities open to the public. The event, with free entry, gave the attending public a chance to experience the grandeur of the biggest national EA SPORTS FC 24 competition, where 24 LALIGA FC Pro clubs competed to win the biggest prize pool in the CUP. A total of 100,000 euros were distributed in prizes, the largest in the history of the cup, doubling the amount of the previous year, with 25,000 euros for the winning club.

Clubs competing in the round of 16 of the LALIGA FC Pro Cup also secured a direct pass to the grand final at the end of April.

The format for this new season has seen a return to 1v1 matches, with a win earning 3 points, while a draw earns 1 point. During the LALIGA FC Pro Cup, in the event of a draw, extra time is played, followed by penalty kicks.

 

Next stop after the LALIGA FC Pro Cup

The 16 clubs that manage to be one step closer to glory from the cup will be eliminated after entering the LALIGA FC Pro Final at the end of the month. In line with previous years, as happened at PortAventura World in Madrid, Barcelona, Zaragoza or Tarragona, these stops with the public will touch new cities, once again bringing the excitement closer to their community.

 

The biggest prize in history

The amount of prizes was over 350,000 euros. In the SuperCopa, the first title of the season in November, 7,000 euros were distributed. In the April Cup, 100,000 euros were distributed, the biggest prize of this title in the history of the competition, with 25,000 euros for the winner; 10,000 euros for the runner-up; 7,500 euros for the third and fourth place; and all teams up to 24th place have received a sum of money as a prize. As if that were not enough, 250,000 euros will be left to be distributed for the final, with 60,000 euros for the club that gets the title of champion; 40,000 euros for the runner-up; 20,000 euros for third and fourth place zat and economic distribution to the 16th position.

In addition, the champion and runner-up will get a direct spot in the FC Pro World Championship, and the four semifinalists in the eChampions League.
