French startup Pi-Pop presents an innovative electric bicycle that focuses on the use of supercapacitors instead of batteries for a more efficient and ecological trip.
Due to supercapacitors, this bike not only reduces the dependency on lithium batteries but also promises a seamless riding experience.
Running on supercapacitors, the bike stores and releases energy based on the rider's effort. Simply put, the more you pedal, the more energy you accumulate in the supercapacitor, which translates into a greater range of autonomy.
In addition, supercapacitors have a much longer lifespan than conventional lithium batteries – between 10 and 15 years compared to 6 for lithium batteries – which further contributes to the sustainability of the product. The Pi-Pop electric bicycle sells for €2,450.
