The Basque Center for cybersecurity (BCSC), integrated within the Group SPRI, and the Foundation PuntuEUS will work together to protect the navigation and the potential threats for the domain .EUS.
Specifically, both organizations will collaborate in the management of cyber security incidents affecting the domains .EUS and in the protection of the same. This collaboration is based on an agreement already signed in which is included the joint identification of cyberthreats with special incidence in Euskadi.
As it has expressed the Foundation itself PuntuEUS "thanks to this Agreement .EUS will abandon solutions market standards with which until today ensured the community of domains .EUS. The objective of developing a tool of their own with the BSCS is to reach a level of security that with the tools available in the market is not possible. This is a pioneering initiative and .EUS will become one of the domains safer at the global level".
PuntuEUS is the meeting point of the Basque and the Basque culture on the Internet since the 14 June 2013 the ICANN, the managing body of the domains in the network approve the establishment of domain .EUS. A recognition for the digital community the Basque Country that has been possible thanks to the persevering work done over the years by the Association PuntuEUS, reconverted in the foundation PuntuEUS to manage the domain .EUS.
The past year closed with the registration of more than 7,000 domains .EUS and the collaboration agreement reached with BCSC gives response to a need a latent continue to grow.
This collaboration is a further demonstration of the need for cooperation among entities of all type to confront the threats of cyber-security, in which the Basque Center for cybersecurity contributed to the recent event NextSecure, held in early May in Bilbao. Cybercriminals each time they use more advanced techniques and are organized for attacks sets and global, so only a close collaboration of all actors in the sector of cybersecurity may frenarles.
The Basque Center for cybersecurity will continue actively seeking and closing agreements of collaboration with agents at the local level, as is the case of PuntuEUS, state and international. In this regard, the National Institute of cybersecurity (INCIBE), will carry out the assessment visit the BCSC of face to obtain membership first, with the objective to belong from full right to the largest worldwide organization of incident response teams of cybersecurity.
