Sony has reported on its upcoming Xperia smartphone models, highlighting advanced image capture capabilities in the high-end segment and two-day battery life in the most affordable product.
The firm has advertised its flagship Xperia 1 VI device, highlighting that it uses AI technology and an improved zoom to offer professional-quality images, while the screen uses image adjustment technology that, according to Sony itself , reproduces the quality of your high-end Bravia televisions on your phone screen.
Regarding the camera, Sony explains that its in-house Exmor T mobile sensor and AI assistance allow its lens to offer image quality equivalent to that of a full-frame camera.
It also highlights autofocus (AF) tracking with “human pose estimation” using AI. The company points out that this function "recognizes the human skeleton, which allows precise AF tracking even in situations in which it is difficult to capture the snapshot, due to possible obstructions that may reduce the visibility of the subject."
Likewise, the device is provided with an operating mode for high-level games and improved sound compared to previous models. Sony highlights a high-end audio circuit, designed for its 3.5mm headphone jack.
Xperia 1 VI is equipped with a 6.5-inch screen, triple rear camera with 52 megapixel main unit, 5,000 mAh battery and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen3 chipset. It will go on sale in June and will cost 1,399 euros in Europe.
The challenge of the mid-range
The Xperia 1 VI, presented alongside the flagship device, is advertised as an “endurance specialist”, with two days of battery life and charging technology that, according to Sony itself, keeps it in good condition for three years.
Front-facing stereo speakers and OLED technology, offering a “pocket cinematic experience.”
It has a 6.1-inch screen, dual rear cameras with 48 megapixel main unit, 5,000 mAh battery and Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset.
Sony plans to launch the Xperia 10 VI in mid-June for a price of 399 euros.
