About the Smart City Expo World Congress

The Smart City Expo World Congress, which has been held in Barcelona since 2011, is an international reference event for cities. Its mission is to empower cities and collectivize urban innovation worldwide. Through the promotion of social innovation and the identification of opportunities for collaboration, the event aims to create a better future for cities and citizens.

Cities inspired by people

Leonardo Da Vinci was known for walking around with his notebooks and writing and drawing things as they came to his mind. For Isaac Newton, things came together when an apple fell.

Inspiration seems to be something that happens naturally and therefore cannot be planned. But at the Smart City Expo World Congress, they believe that inspiration is the expression of ideas that make the best possible from us and our environment.

Last year, the Smart City Expo World Congress celebrated its tenth anniversary and exceeded all expectations with a repeat edition. All numbers are expected to increase over the forecast horizon this year, similar to pre-pandemic volume.

With an alarming environmental footprint and a persistent health crisis, now more than ever it is necessary to reflect on how cities can do their part to make the world a better place, which measures work well, which do not and how to get new ideas to prepare for difficult times.
