The Smart City Expo has celebrated a new edition in Argentina to promote urban innovation.
"Territories that renew, communities that transform" has been its motto. Smart City Expo Santiago del Estero (SCESDE) held its 3rd Edition between June 26 and 27, in that city in northern Argentina. With the aim of transforming Latin American cities into smart, productive and sustainable centers, the Fira de Barcelona event brought together more than 90 speakers and more than 150 companies and organizations.
Organized by the Government of the Province of Santiago del Estero, the Fira de Barcelona event was once again a meeting place between administrations, civil society, organizations and local and international companies to promote exchange and debate on the future of urban development in Latin America.
SCESDE was held at the Santiago del Estero Forum and was a conference that offered more than 30 sessions on three topics, the main one being: the 4.0 economy, sustainable territories and smart government.
Among the speakers, there was the presence of prominent people in the field of innovation, such as the technological entrepreneur Matteo Salvatto; Director of the Innovation and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of the University of Buenos Aires, Juan Corvalán; Argentina's representative in the FAO, Maya Takagi; Researcher at the Technological Institute of Buenos Aires, Fabricio Ballarini; The founder of the Mamá Emprende digital academy, Alejandra Leguizamón or the scientific director of the Territorial Innovation Entrepreneurship laboratory of the IAE Paris-Sorbonne business school, Carlos Moreno, among others.

To complement the main program, SCESDE offered several parallel activities, including workshops, interactive proposals and practical sessions, designed to address the most pressing challenges raised at the conference. Among them, there was a demonstration of the robot finalists of the World Robotics Olympiad, where a montage stood out. The aforementioned World Robotics Olympiad is an environmental-focused educational robotics competition to be organized by Singapore in November next year.

This exhibition is part of Fira de Barcelona's international strategy, which will hold 14 events around the world in 2024, with the aim of supporting the internationalization of companies and expanding its organizational experience worldwide, positioning it as one of the largest global fairs.
In this sense, the Smart City Expo World Congress, held annually at Fira de Barcelona, is the main international event on smart cities and has local editions in cities around the world. This year, in addition to Santiago del Estero, it is celebrated in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Curitiba (Brazil), New York (United States), Mérida (Mexico), Santiago de Chile (Chile), Bogotá (Colombia) and Doha (Qatar).
