Razer Anzu: new smart glasses

Razer has just introduced smart glasses with low latency sound. At the design level, the glasses look completely normal but have two speakers and a microphone for making calls. In addition to technological features, they are sunglasses that protect against sunlight and blue light from screens.

They are available in two designs, one rounded and the other more rectangular, with a unique proposal that combines the best of wireless headphones with modern sunglasses.

Razer's weird glasses

At first glance, the Razer glasses look like any other type of glasses that are commonly used, but if you look at them from a different angle, things change. The speakers are on the outside of the auditorium, but above the ear. Inside the pin are two microphones in all directions to capture the audio of the calls, and along with the speakers, there are pins for charging glasses. In the same way, glasses have touch controls so you can manage everything from them, as well as status indicators.

These glasses are designed to be hands-free, although they can also play music like any other Bluetooth headset. They connect to our phone and we can play our songs on Spotify, Tidal, internal memory or whatever we want. With touch controls, we can change the song, pause, turn on our phone's voice assistant, and more. They are waterproof via the IPX4 protocol to prevent splashes from affecting them.

In terms of battery life, the Razer Anzu Smart Glasses have a maximum battery life of up to five hours, requiring the connection of two pins to fully charge. Alternatively, one may have more batteries than the other and only one ends up operating (the charging operation is the same as that of two headphones that are charged in a box, in the corresponding hole).

In terms of protection, Razer glasses have a 35% reduction in light and a 99% reduction in UV protection to protect us from the sun. In the same way, they are compatible with graduated crystals for those with visual impairments (increasing the price of glasses, as expected).

The price of these glasses is 209.99 euros, and they can be purchased in both circular and rectangular versions on the Razer website.

Polarized lenses

Razer, which we all associate with gaming peripherals, has just started in a new segment: smartglasses or smart glasses. We’re not talking about augmented reality glasses or anything like that, but polarized glasses, with a light filter and a built-in speaker that allows you to listen to music via Bluetooth.

The glasses will be available in two different designs: rectangular and round, each in two sizes. The arms are “durable and flexible,” according to Razer, and can be easily folded and stored. Now we know them in depth, but without forgetting that its price is 209.99 euros.

To watch and listen to music

The new Razer Anzu looks like ordinary glasses; so, in principle, they should not attract too much attention. The thickness of the arms only calls attention, if we consider that there is something that makes sense, including a battery, a wireless sound system and a touch surface that we can interact with the device. In general, glasses weigh between 43 and 48 grams. They also have IPX4 resistance.

The package includes 35% pre-installed light filter lenses and 99% polarized UVA / UVB replacement lenses, as well as a USB-A charging cable, wash cloth and carrying case. According to Razer, light-emitting lenses help protect you from “screen brightness” and reduce “digital fatigue”. The idea is to change the lenses depending on whether we are in front of or outside the computer.

In terms of sound, the Razer Anzu glasses use Bluetooth 5.1 and the company has ensured a latency of 60 milliseconds. In addition, the glasses have an all-round microphone and speakers in the frame; so we can not only listen to music, we can also make calls. They can sync with iOS and Android and will have an app dedicated to it to equalize sound, check battery status, and update firmware.

And what about gestures? There’s a touch surface in the arms of the Razer Anzu that allows you to change, pause or play the song you’re playing, manage calls, and turn on the voice assistant.

Razer has not revealed the ampere of its glasses battery, but it has made sure it is capable of use for five days.

Razer Anzu versions and price

As mentioned earlier, the Razer Anzu can be obtained in a circular or rectangular format for 209.99 euros. They are already available on the Razer website.
