Screen improvements and software updates
According to Polar, its new Ignite 3 is designed to "help people understand their body's natural rhythm" to make the most of their day and night. In fact, as you can already guess, sleep and recovery are two of the most important aspects of this smartwatch.
In terms of design, the Polar Ignite 3 is reminiscent of its predecessor. Continue betting on a 43-millimeter circular case and a small stainless steel bezel. The obvious difference is the screen, it is no longer LCD to be AMOLED. Needless to say, tactile and colorful, although Polar has not revealed its resolution. What he confirmed is that it is protected by Gorilla Glass.
The watch weighs 35 grams, has WR30 water resistance and promises twice the power of the previous generation.
Another aspect that Polar has highlighted is that the watch faces can be customized to add widget information such as HR, weather or activity summary. And in terms of software, some of the innovations coming to the watch are SleepWise and voice guidance during workouts, which are added to control music and access notifications.
SleepWise goes a step further in sleep analysis. This function combines the quantity, quality and timing of sleep with the internal rhythm and individual sleep needs. According to Polar, it "analyzes bedtime and wake-up cycles and determines the user's cognitive alertness for the next day." In this way, the watch is able to understand whether we are ready to do sport or relax.
The watch allows us to monitor more than 150 sports profiles, perform fitness tests (Fitness, Walking, Running), perform guided breathing exercises (Serene) and get personalized advice and daily training proposals according to physical condition (FitSpark). The sensor is Polar Precision Prime (ten lights, four electrodes and an accelerometer) and, as a novelty, the watch has dual GPS to measure distance and speed during training.
In terms of battery life, Polar has confirmed that its device can last up to five days recording activity and heart rate 24/7. With HR recording and maximum GPS accuracy, the battery is reduced to 30 hours. With the "Energy saving" mode, the autonomy reaches 100 hours.
