Originally released 16 years ago, the Nokia 2660 Flip has been reinvented to meet growing consumer demand for a simpler, less addictive smartphone alternative.

These classic devices (such as the so-called Nokia 2660) allow people to limit their screen time and reconnect with the real world, prioritizing their mental well-being.

Nokia 2660 Flip: Rebirth

HMD Global has seen a significant increase in its foldable phone market share, doubling between 2021 and 2022. Building on this growth, the company plans to further increase it by 2023, as more and more people choose to unplug their phones in search of a simpler, more balanced experience. In fact, this trend, which originated in the United States and is led by Generation Z and millennials, is expected to generate 5% growth in the basic phone market in North America over the next five years due to the health concerns of users.

Lars Silberbauer, Marketing Director of HMD Global, expressed the importance of this trend: "There is an increased interest in foldable phones, which we believe comes from people's need to take a break from the constant notifications that come in on your phone, social media posts and more. People want more simplicity. to be face-to-face, to have more time to think and to have uninterrupted conversations. We're sure we've all experienced a precious moment when it's been ruined by a notification or other distraction from our mobile phone. That's why we're re-introducing the Nokia 2660 Flip, giving people those important moments in life to return."

The retro experience of the Nokia 2660 Flip

The original Nokia 2660 Flip was launched in 2007, but the history of Nokia's Flip phones dates back to 1998. However, 25 years after that first model, consumers want to limit their screen time and reconnect with others, themselves and their environment.

The new Nokia 2660 Flip, in addition to its beautiful and durable foldable design, gives users satisfaction every time they close the device, marking the end of an activity. These phones also have a rear-facing camera for taking 2000s Lo-fi photos.
