Lenovo's transparent laptop, the rumors of which have long been heard in all corners of the Internet, is real. It was seen at the Mobile World Congress and tested there. And its existence is a statement of intent that looks can trump functionality.
One of the most popular devices at the recent Mobile World Congress 2024 was undoubtedly Lenovo's laptop 'concept' with a transparent screen.
Called the Lenovo ThinkBook Transparent Display Laptop Concept, it features a 17.3-inch MicroLED display and achieves a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits. It was known that he would be in Spain at MWC because it was leaked a few days before.
Despite being made of several layers, it is very thin and, instead of a traditional keyboard, this device has a transparent keyboard area and does not include any buttons. This is one of the touch replacements used by Lenovo and works as if there were two screens joined by a hinge. And it also supports magnetic pen.
The 'white' areas remain transparent, but the colored areas appear vividly.
Is a transparent laptop useful for most users?
The quick answer is probably no. The visual experience obviously loses quality. But part of the magic of this type of conceptual and disruptive product is their subsequent iteration, discovering how they were the seed that germinated another great idea.
Transparent panels are not exactly new. Big manufacturers like LG and Samsung already have them and even have TVs and screens already in production and for sale. LG's was spotted at CES in Las Vegas. And a little while ago in Spain, at ISE - the prelude to MWC in Barcelona - Bang&Olufsen showed theirs to 20bit, which is still a concept, as in the case of Lenovo.
At the moment, and without having a crystal ball, these types of panels are more suitable for commercial use, such as showrooms, shops, large meeting rooms, hospitality and hotels. Lenovo's is a laptop that doesn't exist outside of its labs. At least this way, the company will be able to say that it was one of the first to think of computers with this technology.

MWC 2024: TECNO's futuristic mobile phone
Hardly known here, TECNO is a well-positioned mobile brand in the Asian and African markets that has been surprising for a long time with its innovations, ideas and love for the different. It had an essence that the Chinese company highlighted with what it showed at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024: from a phone with a futuristic design to a rollable device, passing through vegan leather backs with fragrances and taking a new approach to backs that change color.
TECNO Pova 6 Pro 5G futuristic and shiny
TECNO chose Barcelona to present the TECNO Pova 6 Pro 5G, a phone that attracts with its design, which is defined by the brightness and reflections of light when moving and, above all, with what is created by its so-called Dynamic Light Effect. Its miniLEDs create colorful effects on the ring and 'circuits' located next to the cameras, which can be customized for scenarios such as calls, charging status or games, one of its preferred channels.
Its attractive futuristic features are combined with eye-catching and rich features, including a 6,000 mAh battery, 70W fast charging, a 6.78-inch Amoled screen with 120 Hz fluidity and its 12 GB + 256 GB.
Fragrant vegan leathers
The manufacturer, taking the opportunity to show the two new folding products in its portfolio, the Phantom V Flip and the Phantom V Fold and others in its series, set up a space on its stand to introduce the concepts it is working on. Vegan leather backs that include fragrances stand out. Yes, they smell. However, out of the three samples (cologne, roses, and ocean), it was only noticeable in one fragrance, and it wasn't very identifiable either.
