The interior
Solar electric car company Aptera has shown for the first time, and in a very light way, how the cabin will be divided in its latest production model. Until now, it was presented only in a temporary format, in its various prototypes, or in digitally generated images.
The company shared a series of images of four people sitting in the driver's seat via their social media profiles.
Taking a first look at the interior of the particular electric model, remarkable details can be seen. First of all, the unique yoke-shaped steering wheel is very striking, the upper half is upholstered in fabric, while the lower half is covered in leather. This leather is not of animal origin, as it is based on different recycled materials; this is also used in other panels within Aptera.
The aforementioned steering wheel has a very unique design and only has two physical controls at its ends, presumably to control typical parts such as music volume or some elements of the four digital instruments. This could always come as standard with the vehicle, although it is something that will be revealed in the coming days.
Attached to the dashboard are two horizontal screens, one as a digital instrument panel and the other for infotainment. There is no specific mention of its dimensions or capabilities, although its rather generous size can be guessed. The cabin, in general, has a very clean and minimalistic design, very similar to the style that Tesla shows for its vehicles.
The seats, on the other hand, are thought to be very ergonomic. The driving position feels quite low and the legs are very stretched out, which is characteristic of sports vehicles. According to the data provided by the company, the people featured in its publication were between 1.52 and 1.82 meters tall, and they have made it clear that the latest model will have plenty of room to travel comfortably in its cabin, specifically with more headroom, and on the sides for its front occupants.
In other elements, the model completely abandons the use of physical buttons throughout the interior, beyond the previously mentioned ones for the steering wheel. Apparently, all commands will be via your touchpads, although there may be more buttons on areas like the door panels.
The North American company will present its latest model, where it will mention its novelties, both exterior and interior, as well as its mechanics and marketing.
